I cannot say as i cannot test it because i don't have it, but it has been this way since 4.0 to squeeze in 384MB of PPC memory max. If it worked before it should still work. I just saw somebody on an another board asking what happened with 128MB of his Radeon memory.

Radeons with 1 aperture of 256MB will still show 256MB.

Some radeons have a jumper for this.

Hello,

regarding the Prometheus PCI soundcard topic:

I also had NO success with the SoundBlaster Audigy (SB0570) card even though the AHI driver seems to have some code promising to support Audigy.
I just bought - this quote in mind - a CT4780 "Soundblaster Live!" card to replace my non working "Terratec 512i".

The CT4780 "Soundblaster Live!" is recognized in:
- prmscan
- OpenPCIInfo
- pcibusinfo

The embedded sounddriver in AHI V6 lists the card in AHI prefs and I can perform a "test sound" (-> it beeps)!

HURRAY I thougt, BUT there is nothing more than that "beep". If I start AmigaAMP and play a song - its only this "beep" again - no sound ;-(

Am I missing a thing? Several people reported this card as working...

Interstingly "OpenPCIInfo" prompts out the following:

[...]
Device : EMU10000 Sound Blaster Live! (Also Live! 5.1) - OEM from DELL - CT4780
[...]

Might the "OEM from DELL" be the killing part, as those OEM cards are reported not to work?!

My system config:

Prometheus Board (with DMA Firmware):
Manufacturer ID: 0x0e3b (3643)
Product ID : 0xc8 (200)

RTL8139 NIC - working! with OpenPCI
PPC Apocalype - working with "sonnet.library"
Voodoo 3 (Avenger) - working with "3dfxVoodoo.chip" (Tooltype: DMAsize=2048k)
&
Soundblaster Live! - ???
Terratec 512i - ??? (someone told me, it wont work anymore with the DMA Firmware)

Any hints or suggestions are welcome.

Best regards

What engine do you use with AmigaAMP? Internal/external/mpeg library....

Did you set the correct device number of AHI?

PPC or 68k

Version 2 or version 3 of AmigaAMP

Hello,

I use the latest version AmigaAMP ("AmigaAMP 3.34 (68k/OS3)") with the "ppc-warpOS.engine" in PlugIns ("WarpUP decoding engine 3.0") for the PPC Board. This works flawlessly with PAULA AHI-mode(s) - so I guess it works.

Soundcard wise I have chosen for the AHI device #2 "EMU10000 stereo" (dont remember the exact phrase) mode and for AHI device #3 "EMU10000 stereo++" mode. And the device numbers are also chosen in the AmigaAMP prefs accordingly.
--> PAULA output (AHI device #0) works on A4000 mainboard chinch
--> EMU10000 output (AHI device #2 and / or #3) result in a "beep" on the soundcard output - as long as AmigaAMP is opened (if closed the "beep" ends)

Is there anything obviously wrong in my setup?

Best regards

Hello Hedeon,

the versions I use are:
- prometheus.library = 4.5
- prometheus.card = 7.601
- emu10kx.card = 6.5

I tried a setup with the soundcard only (68k & mpega.library) - no change, still only the "beep"...

Best regards

What is the PCIID of the Soundblaster?
Is it ven_1102&dev_0006?

Hi Hedeon,

thanks for your hint. I managed to find the "emu10kx.card = 6.1" in an older beta archive of AHI (m68k-amigaos-ahiusr-6.0rc3.lha). I exchanged the "emu10kx.audio" to version 6.1 and later the complete AHI installation, without success. Unfortunately nothing changed.

Maybe I have a "wrong" soundblaster card - are the "known good" one that definitely work?

Best regards

This did the trick!!! - Thank you very much! My Soundblaster Live! is up and running :-)

--> "emu10kx.card = 6.10" (post #171) in combination with
--> "ahi.device = 6.7" works!

Best regards

I am confused, did you update ahi.device ? Or did you made a typo with 6.1 and you meant 6.10?

Hello Hedeon,

sorry for the confusion - I read you ">" sign in the wrong way...

"emu10kx.card = 6.10" (from your post #171) is the newest one. I used that one and I also updated my "ahi.device" to Version 6.7 to match your setup best (as you posted in #172).

I corrected my post. Thanks for clarification.

Best reagards

I got this pci to pcie 16x adapter card from ebay that seems to work. 10b5 8112 (vendor/device). No cards bigger than 1x to test but 1x seems to work. Crashes when no card is plugged in. Not sure if that can be fixed (bus error).

But for people that want to test 2x and higher cards.

Thanks. This made my SBLive work.

However, I have another issue: when my 68060 is set to 100MHz, the 8139 Adapter stops responding shortly after use. At 50MHz it works Fine. Since the Setup is proven and has no issues, I think this is Not related to a Problem with the overclocked CPU. Any ideas?
