update: after a small break to update/fix Scramble, I'm back to the project.

Existing moves are pretty accurate, and with just 2 sounds that's beginning to look good.

(if a moderator could change the thread title to "[WIP] karate champ VS" that would be cool)

Little known fact : With a Dual Shock in hand, you can reproduce all the moves from the original arcade game by using simultaneously the pair of analog sticks (Karate Champ was ported on the PS2 by Hamster, along with a few other oldish coin ops').

thanks. News about the project: well, nothing is really going on at the moment. Too busy with other things to commit to a big project (yes it's quite big) like that.

Most moves are working with a single joypad but there's still a lot of reverse engineering to do on the A.I. and also to properly design collisions/hit system.

the good news is: I resumed working on that project again. The idea is to propose a demo of the practice part (no fight, just repeating the moves the computer does). That is a reachable milestone and once attained, it will mean that a lot more utility functions will be developed.

That is fantastic work jotd, truly fantastic.

That cannot be an easy game to reverse and re-do like you have, massive kudos and respect buddy.

Well, ATM I'm not reversing the game. The reversing consists in capturing videos and extracting character moves with scripts and image processing.

I started the reverse of the A.I. (necessary). I have the big principles but the details aren't done yet. I've found that the computer reacts to certain frames of the human player (which is expected).

I figured out that if I can pull the 2P mode, adding A.I. will be "just" a reverse + programming task, away from all the graphics & animation & collision part.

I knew I'd seen this game before... it's in Bloodsport; Jackson and Dux have a game at the beginning of the movie!

You're doing a great job, as usual, with this JOTD!

yes, it's in Bloodsport. But when I saw it in Bloodsport in 1988 I said "hey I played this game"

I remember when the non-VS version came out in 1984 (?), I didn't play, but I watched other people playing it for hours. Then I tried it. Then the VS version (with the girls, the one I'm remaking) came out and I trained at lot.

Actually I was pretty good at it, reaching stage 9 or 10. Now I get my ass kicked but I'm going to learn the A.I. and will get better Thanks for the encouragements (please release a playable demo of Robocop AGA one of those days it looked wild).

Still a lot to do but I'm pretty sure I'm going to finish the development of the game now.

No problem, and yes, I plan on releasing a playable demo of RoboCop AGA which will consist of the intro, title screen, options and level 1.

When? I don't know unfortunately, I burned myself out recently when I refactored the main RoboCop sprite code and all of the many connotations of movement he's capable of.

some news of the project

- no9 agreed to create the music tracks and almost completed them. They sound perfect as always
- still lots of bugs, but ripped a lot of graphics: girls at start of the fight work (can be skipped!), bonus stages (bulls, plank breaking stage animation almost complete). A.I. will be fully reversed in a few weeks when I get my 2 big screens back.

so doing rather easy but tedious tasks, but which must be done.
