Smile Mount PCTask Hardfile0

I am struggling to mount my PC-Task Hardfile.From the readme of PC-Task 4.4:

Quote:
@{u}In Workbench@{uu}

If you have a Hard Disk Partition or a HardDisk file, run the
PCTCrossMount Program. This requires the C: or D: entries saved in the
PC.config file and will automatically create a DOSDriver to be used
-only- in Workbench (It is NOT to be used by PC Task in the C: or D:
entries).
To make the icon created in RAM: a DOSDriver, load up a text editor
and delete the first line 'TCC:' and the '#' at the end. Then create an
.info file for it and change the following:
Default tool should be C:MOUNT
Add Tooltype ACTIVATE=1

To get the icon to appear, execute the command DIR TCC: or whatever from
the Workbench/Execute menu option. You can now drag files to/from the
MS-DOS partition.
Once I complete the above and type:
Quote:
cd TCC:
Nothing happens.

If I run PCTCrossMount again it tells me TCC already exists.

Suggestions please?

You have to write only with colon, like this

TCC:

Also make sure you have named the Hardfile Hardfile0 and that it is in the same location as PCTCrossMount.

When you run from the PCTCrossMount icon, make sure you have the messages shown in my screenshot

The second colon is the delimiter on the command line, I entered only one honest!

If I double click the icon I created for TCC in DEVSOSDrivers/TCC it crashes the computer. I suspect the file is corrupt?

That's what he did. The error message is in the format <command>: unknown command. If the command is TCC: the message is TCC:: unknown command.

Strange, when writing a volume name, example TCC: usually the error should be ... Insert the TCC disk into a disk drive !

The TCC icon (it's not a mountlist) just runs TCC: basically the same thing you do from a Shell, so you shouldn't have a crash

I have recreated the .info file by copying PIPE.info and renaming it TCC.info.

No more crashes.

Now it says `TCC:` is already mounted when I double-click the icon, same as the shell.

I don't have any TCC DOSDrivers in DEVS, nor in Storage/DEVS/, which is the place where I prefer to put the DosDrivers (it's for not having automatic mounts)

My TCC is a text file that includes only the TCC command: which will then be executed from icon with IconX

What version of CrossDOS are you using?

Interesting... My TCC file is shown in the first shell window at the top in my previous image:

Quote:
Device = Hardfile.device
...
Stacksize = 4000
It is a copy of the file PCTCrossMount creates and places in RAM:

I have only the CrossDos that has come with Workbench 3.1.4 (what ever that is).

Yes the TCC and TDC mountlists are generated in RAM and then automatically mounted after the TCC command:

I created a small video where you can see how from a basic OS 3.9 system I mount 2 PC-MSDOS hardfiles.

In the video you will notice that I manually copy the device and filesystem to OS 3.9 and leave in the DH0 volume (actually non-system volume) and inside is just PCTCrossMount, PC.config, Hardfile0, Hardfile1.

Here is the video tutorial:

Found hardfile.device on the Internet.
Add to DEVS:
Rebooted.

Works!

Thank you everyone for your help.
