Wanted: Indivision external scandoubler/flicker fixer

I'm trying but failing to find an external scandoubler anywhere. Internal is not an option for me.

If anyone has one that they want to part with, name your price.

Thanks.

They are not great scandoublers. They are only 16-bit and suffer from Digital->Analog->Digital->Analog conversion problems. They also require a 50Hz capable display (i.e. do not work with LCD)

They are also called ToastScan BTW.

Don't work with an LCD? Never mind then.

Are there any external scan doublers that will work with an LCD by the way?

Hmmm dont think so Shane as most LCD screens need Scan Tripled Amiga input. Why does it have to be external?

If for whatever reason you want to stay with an external scandoubler wouldn't you be better getting a CRT monitor, that seems to me to be the best picture quality you could get on an Amiga, nice bright colours and no scaling or processing artifacts like you can get on LCD.

Not in PAL modes anyhow. In NTSC modes (60Hz) most LCD's will work. To get your Amiga to output 60Hz in all applications and games is the tricky bit.

Yes but at the sacrifice smooth scrolling. The cheapest is about $95 for a CM397. Not a great scandoubler but works.

I might be lucky, but I've had both my A4000T (NTSC) and PAL A600 hooked up to a few different LCD's with no issue at all.

CM397 and CM391 are reportadly equally good. I have neither so I cannot comment. All 3 are not 24-bit but I dunno if that matters to you?

I'm not worried about 24-bit colour. Just got the 1200, so I don't want to start opening it and fiddling around with it. Also, I have read that since I have an internal hard drive it wouldn't be possible to install.

Has anyone heard of this guy's scandoubler?

Apparently it works on LCDs. I'll have a look at the other suggestions as well.

Although I was just thinking that since he's U.S. based it wouldn't be a surprise that it works with LCDs since it would be outputing 60Hz on NTSC Amigas.

I have now tried both external (used for years) and now the internal indivision...

The internal is much better, very clear picture and also just much simpler and easier on the desk !

Should work with internal hardrive also ? I only have cf now, but a 2,5 drive should not be any problem...

Also very easy to install hardware wise.. Like 10seconds after its opened!

I only have a CF as well. I had read that it was impossible with internal hard drive, but just assumed this meant any hard drive.

I'll leave it as a last resort, don't like the idea of cutting holes in the trapdoor etc. Is there a good guide with step by step instructions on how to install it anywhere?
