I just mentioned Turrican in the above post.
Factor 5 made few games and because of this it is hard to crown them as the best. |

While I loved games published by Team 17, I think that I played much more one published by Microprose. Civilization, Colonization, Gunship 2000, Pirates, X-Com and Rick Dangerous just to name few.
TEam 17 games were always bit more polished... any relation to CD Project? |

I wonder what Wunderkind developer would brought us, if Amiga survived.
They only had one game: Ruff'n'Tumble, but it's so polished, that I think even many Team 17 games can envy it. A true gem. |

Emotionally for me it's and will always be Psygnosis. Not only for the Amiga, but also the ST.
Which is kind of funny, because i really HATE almost all of the gameplay of their games except Lemmings. But this colourful Roger Dean styled art world they had in all of their games was awesome. They really showed what the Amiga was capable of later on. |

If you are going to base it on single game - then Thalion with Lionheart should be on top.

My theory is that they were already acquired by Sony at this point and were asked to published them by their parent company, who distributed those films. I think Psygnosis is has much better releases than Team 17. They were able to figure out how to utilize the Amiga's strengths far earlier and set the bar. |

Psygnosis had two Amiga expert developpers team : Reflection and DMA Design. Most of their best Amiga games came from these developpers.
I also think that T17 were the greatest Amiga publisher (Renegade being a close contester), mainly because they were the only publisher that tried to support the Amiga to the end with dedicated games that fits with the hardware. Worms DC is truely a masterpiece, and maybe the best AGA game ever made IMHO. Nice swam song. That makes the Amiga Power controversy unforgivable for me. Why on earth would you slash every games of one of the only last Amiga invested developpers ? Best developper, there is some competition between the german school (Thalion, Factor 5, Neon Design) and the english one (Reflections, DMA, Magnetic Fields, Sensible Soft...). It depends if you judge the games technically or for their overall qualities. |

Renegade indeed, I keep forgetting that one. Seeing that logo tended to be a sign of happiness.

I wouldn't say Team 17 were the best, but certainly their ethos of 1meg only and writing bespoke Amiga versions forced other developers to up their game somewhat.
Early Ocean ranged from OK to downright horrible, but they clearly upped their game, and I think Team 17 were part of the reason. |

I can't say if they were the best, but seeing their logo at the start always created warm fuzzy feelings within
