Arcade games you really completed in 1 credit
Ok, very thin connection to the Amiga (all games I'm talking about are arcade games, ported to Amiga, but that's not the point)
In this thread I'll brag about the "insert coin to continue" arcade games that I've completed with only 1 credit, and the ones without continues I have completed (only counting the ones with an end sequence which leads to "Game Over", not counting the ones that cycle up to another new stage with increased difficulty) - DragonNinja: did it only once in 1989. That time I got lucky with the energy drinks! Normally it cost me 2 credits to finish it. - Mortal Kombat: once in 1994: fighters tend to be super hard when you never lose a credit! - Pang (1 player mode): once in 1994. Maybe we completed it with 2 credits in 2 player mode with an expert player friend. - OutRun (easy mode): 2 times in 2009 (MAME) That's all I could do. I could never beat GhostsNGoblins and its ludicrious "do all levels twice and kill the super hard monsters with the ridiculous shield weapon" Other people with great arcade/money saving skills ? |

Ahh... used to love the arcades.
I also completed Pang with one credit a few times. ...Love that game! Street Fighter 2 (normal, champion, hyper etc) was pretty easy after mastering the game(s) at my local arcades and amusement piers. Plus using a just couple credits I used to be able to complete Robocop, golden axe and Vigilate. I could get to the last level of shinobi with a single credit but allways frustratinly ended up pumping coins in to complete it (same goes for final fight). Good times! ..and thank god for mame now to relive my youth. |

The only coin-op games I could complete with one credit without losing a live were :
- Wonderboy in Monsterland : I finished it without losing every time I played it in in 1988/89 . - Black Dragon (the jpn version of Black Tiger) : I finished it without losing each time I played it, in 1989 I guess. - Terra Force : I finished this one without losing any live 2 times only, and as far as I remember there was no ending, it started again, so maybe this one does not count. Amusingly these 3 games were from 1987, which is with 1986 the golden age of arcade I think, well my favorite arcade games are from this era anyway (Bubble Bobble, Mexico 86, Rygar, Xain'd Sleena, Out Run, Wonderboy in Monsterland, Black Dragon, Shinobi, Rastan, Ninja Warriors etc.) |

For coin ops, me and a friend would go downtown at lunch at highschool to bumpers arcade in Belleville Ontario and play robocop. We would play 1 quarter each and play to the end. We were always late for the first course in the afternoon.

One time I remember putting 2 credits in as it was 50p a go, I put £1 in, took 20 mins or so to complete it on the first go (which I didn't think I'd do hence putting in 2 credits) and heard sighs from the small crowd that had gathered waiting their turn when I re-started it all again. But I was 12 and I wasn't wasting 50p. |

Nothing old, only newer arcades (which I'm sure have different difficulty levels depending on where you play them).
Virtua Tennis (I didn't actually insert any credit, I just pressed startand it let me in!) OutRun 2 That is all. |

Street Fighter (the original one with weird speech sounds), but only once.
Double Dragon all the time when I was a kid, there was a shop near my school that had the machine and we all used to play it loads. These days with it running under MAME I can still get right to the end with one credit but need another one to finish off the final huge fight - my reflexes must have slowed in my old age. |

Robocop!!?? That's insanely difficult! I played it a couple of times but never even made through the first level.

I'll try to be as honest as possible
Street fighter 2ce (ken) Shinobi Final fight (when playing with a old good friend i knew at the arcade) Double dragon same as final fight That's it, there were many i couldn't finish with one credit. I am thinking about another related memories on the arcade, i'll open a new thread about it. Last edited by Jgames; 22 July 2010 at 10:51. Reason: Info |

I could get to the end too with more a less 1 credit but this was only from practice from playing the game previously. Robocop and Pang were probably my all time fave games. I think this (and R-type on the later levels too) was problably the hardest game in the arcades. |
