What could I fit in.....
Ok its late and my mind is wandering and I am typing gibberish but imagine if I took the Keyboard and Floppy out of my A1200 case, blanked the keyboard hole up and maybe raised the front edge up to turn the wedge into a oblong.
If I added an external keyboard, what do you reckon I could get in the modded case? |

if you add some extras you might need to consider a bigger psu (like the goliath psu i gave away a few months back (to an EAB user so it wasn't wasted!))

If you could find one, you might be able to fit Eyetech's single slot Zorro adapter in there, the PPC and BVision are designed to fit in an unmodified A1200, so that wouldn't be a problem.

@bippym
yepo it is... they prolly borrowed my camera to do it too... its the only way they could of got it that blurred. @DDNI truth is though unless you could find a riser card (maybe an old a2k 3k or 4k backplane riser) one is still stuck in the horixontal upgrading position even then you gonna have some sticky outy problems. hmmm heres what imma thinking that might be an idea http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/ateobus but what most likey is better idea is http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/onboard1200 |

That onboard1200 looks like a good idea but hard to find?
I doubt an AteoBus would fit in easily, I could barely fit it in my tower. I dont understand how you want to raise the case up, could someone whip up a quick sketch in paint? Also how would you blank the keyboard holes? Wouldnt it look a bit naff when blanked over? Last edited by Smiley; 07 September 2006 at 18:44. |

Ditch the original case and get a different enclosure.. No point in modding the stock case..

@DDNI
to be honest DDNI if i was to build an tower from an existing case i would remove and build a custom backplane.. Quote:

@DDNI
since you are considering a custom tower might i suggest this http://www.savastore.com/productinfo...pid=45&tid=279 its cheap, very mod-a-ble but more specifically its a better size higher soo you can position the A1200 mobo (even with a trapslot adapter) slighly higher up to allow for PCMCIA cards!!! (that will save you £30 right there on an angle connector!). its easy to mod a case and psu if you have a little money and a lot of time. if you are good at metal work you can fassion your own back plane, use the miggy backplane as a stencil for the required cut-outs. if not just popdown to a local engineering firm with about £30 and a 2foot by half a foot 20 guage lump of steel and ask if they could help you... 9 times outa ten a its under the desk money they will help you... i would say to try and avoid shoe-horning an amiga into a poorly named (full atx tower *4/5.25 bays instead of 6+) as there is soo little room that more modifications will have to be done not to mention another £30 for a PCMCIA angle bracket!!!!.. DDNI.. you can havbe my AMIGA eytech tower for free.. cover postage and packaging costs and it's yours. You wont need a PCMCIA angle connecter because it's that damn big, it's already cut for an a1200 mobo (and bottom case part).
It's just missing the sides which you can prolly get replaced cheaply enough! I'm only gonna bin it when I get the 1200 ina new case anyway |
