Minimig Help
Hi Friends,
Well I just purchased a minimig in hopes of returning to "as close to a real amiga as I can get" without having to sell my pleasures on the street corner to buy a real one, (OMG $700 for a stock 1.3 512k A500 not guaranteed to work? Huh?) so I can complete my game development having only used an emulator (FS-UAE for the past 10 years or so). I am having difficulty finding support. I searched here and found very little. Can anyone direct me to timely help. I have it up and running and understand the menu process, but, for example the "slave hdf" does not appear in workbench and hdtools doesn't see it. My Grac2 games I have and am developing will not open with an I/O error, yet they open fine in FS-UAE. Lots to ask, no one to answer. Thanks for any help |

Do you know which version of the core you're using, and whether you have the ARM controller upgrade? (Do you have a socketed chip near the SD card, or a small L-shaped daughter board?)
I think the most recent person to work on the classic Minimig core was Rok Krajnc (chaos) - his builds can be found here: https://somuch.guru/minimig/original-minimig/ The minimig.net forum has, unfortunately, been offline for about a year now. |

Most minimig users these days do use the miSTer branch, on miSTer's devboard.

Maybe I can help a bit.
Is the socketed chip a pic18lf252? If so than it is a very old version with limited harddisk support. It will work but very, very slow. To make it work you need to select the hardfile in the menu but you also need a kickstart rom that has the gayle ide driver in it. (kickstart 2.05 or higher for A500/A600). I made an upgraded PIC chip that backports the ARM codebase to the PIC platform. The harddisk is then superfast and you get some other features as well like scrolling filenames and improved adf compatibility. As for crashing with an I/O error, what core version does the boot screen report? |
