X-surf 100: duplicate packets
Machine: A4000, Cyberstorm Mk II 060, Cybervision 64/3D, X-surf 100
Software: AmiTCP 4, Envoy 3 Installed the X-surf 100 68040 SANA-2 driver. When pinging any other host on the network, I get duplicate packets. Half a dozen packets come back correctly, then two packets will arrive with several DUP packets. This goes both when connected to a switch and when corrected directly to another Amiga with X-surf 2. The AmiTCP installation is brought over from another working Amiga, and I have tried even bypassing the startnet script, just running the AmiTCP binary and ifconfig. |

Do you have a spare machine on which you can run a packet sniffer, and does your switch support port spanning?
If so, span the traffic from the Amiga port to the the packet sniffer, repeat the ping, and capture the DUP packets. Examine the MAC address. Double check that you are pinging the IP address of another device, not the broadcast or multicast address. Unplug the patch cable from the Amiga, plug in another device, and repeat the ping. Does this also produce DUPs? |
