Chaos Engine CD32: how to swap special weapons

When playing with 1 player & the CPU, the floppy version has space to swap special weapons between player and CPU (in addition of shift or alt to select special weapon when more than 1 is available)

In the CD32 version, I don't find that possibility.

blue button triggers the special (floppy: keep fire pressed)

green button selects player special
yellow button selects cpu special
forward & reverse seem to do nothing

I didn't find the CD32 section anywhere.

found it in the in-game instructions (and before by disassembling the CD32 version )

press green+yellow at the same time to swap specials.

Someone should have told them that there are shoulder buttons that aren't used at all...

Also, in floppy versions, 2nd button is used to swap instead of triggering smart bomb...

The combo also has to be pressed way too precisely, resulting in a bunch of misses. Probably the only gripe I have about this version.

Sure, I'd also preferred if the menu tracks were not CDA tracks, because the originals are just so sweet. Luckily the level tracks are intact and CDA is only used to complement them with bonus ambience.

yes, first time I saw that they used CD tracks to add just background noises.

But there's an explanation to the non-CD music: the in-game music is dynamic and adapts to the section you're in (it can change in seconds). Good luck implementing that with a CD track!

I could add a feature to swap weapons using forward (shoulder) button as they don't seem to be used in the game. I think I'm going to do that. I can issue 700 updates of the whdload slave for those superb Bitmap games

they're used for rotating your character 45 degrees clockwise/anti-clockwise (fwd/reverse)
not very convenient to use though

never noticed that! probably to make up for the poor diagonals of the CD32 pad. But with KTRL-CD32 pads the diagonals are much better (now playing with those, and it doesn't bother me, when I only played with my wico stick earlier)
