Nebulus remake
I've recently discovered a good Nebulus clone called Tower Toppler, avaible for linux and windows ( open source )
The gfx is not as colorful as the amiga one, it lacks music & it's a bit slow, but it's still worth playing. The homepage is @ http://toppler.sourceforge.net/. |

I didn't think there was a problem with Tower toppler back last time I tried it (found link on www.remakes.org if you want to look for other remakes).
of course it can't be the same as the original now can it? |

Thanks for the info. I loved that game (especially on the C64). It's a great example of the innovation of programmers (actually a single programmer in this case) back in the old days
![]() Pity there was no tower designer kit. |

Most of these remakes are simply only conversion without any enchantments.

There is a speed option ( it's set to 0, if you change it to 3 it's as fast as the amiga one ).
Music: in the source code there is support for 2 xm files - but there isn't any track of them ![]() |

Wasn't Tower Toppler the American title for the original Nebulus?

Well, it may be another remake but recently I was talking with a guy from the Oric Atmos scene and Yak (Jeff Minter). We agreed that making Nebulus was an achievement back then. We were wontering how the hell they managed to make the tower look so 3D by using assembly. We tried to do a demo in Oric Atmos and we failed.
Of course, something like that is easy today with the 3D APIs that exist for many computer languages.... Still beautiful tho! |

Yeah it looked great. And many years later they made a lemmings using the same principal as far as i can tell. I can't remember what the name of the game was but when I looked at the back of the package it looked like normal lemmings put around a cylinder.
