1943, another Capcom Conversion Puked up by U.S. Gold

1943, a classic in the arcade, I even had the original PCB Jamma board for my cabinet many years ago, great fun and it even had a 2Plyr co-op mode, even U.S. Gold / Probe failed to include that in their sub poor home conversions, the Amiga could have easily handled this game or as close as dammit but yeah U.S. Gold once again are the publishers of another fan favourite only to have it butt-raped by Probe.

This weeks edition of Shit Game Time is indeed the Amiga version of 1943 which has been requested by Youtuber RayC, oh god that in-game music with that HORRIBLE sea effect

What is the interest of posting video destroying Amiga games on an Amiga forum in 2023 ?
As we didn't know that there is bad games on the system.

Fun. Having fun. Good god this is the 200th video or something, must this be brought up every single time?

As to the game:

So I would say better collision detection, don't lose your powerups and maybe some visual feedback when hitting enemies and it's already playable but perhaps not yet fun to play.

There is a bug in this game where bonus items are not visible because of the clouds

As you can see in my vid @5:20 you pickup a powerup and its invisible...
[ Show youtube player ]

Psygore fixed it in the latest whdload version

version 1.4 (17.05.2022) done by Psygore
- Some bonus were hidden by the clouds, it's fixed now.
Set CUSTOM2=1 to remove this fix.
- Interrupt fixed
- Install script updated

With all the powerups visible taking down those boss planes will be easier now, instead of using the default bullets which can take over 10mins to kill a boss plane with lol

Yeah I'm sorry.
I somehow have the impression that everything now on the internet is about trashing things or making "worst ever something" list.
But I'm maybe biaised. Once you've seen a pair a video of that kind, YT keeps recommanding other ones.

Yes but 1943 on Amiga was really an insult back in the day, as an arcade fan, this was really
a PoS conversion, and I remember the crackintro where they announced the cracked game as "1943 (1917?)°

What is the best in those videos is that you really feel for the person playing this crap game.

Gaming masochism at its best.

I think the only "fair" thing you can say about it is that it was only released on the GO! budget label wasn't it?

So even by US Golds standards they must have thought "Oooh..... Nothing about this says full price.... AT ALL!"

The Amiga version of this video game was so bad, you could have made a better version on SEUCK!

That stated, at least Core Design didn't let us down with Banshee!

It was later re-released on Kixx which is a bit weird. Maybe they were hoping that people forgot or didn't know how bad it was after 3 years.

Or there was literally no thought behind it and it was just a paper procedure they followed.

Wizard Wars and Human Killing Machine are the only other two titles (on Amiga) that were only released on GO! and neither got re-released on another budget label.

Rolling Thunder wasn't reissued by Kixx either, which might have been a one-off for an arcade conversion. I assume Rolling Thunder's had the SGT treatment before, its truly wretched - not only is it visually and sonically inept, it doesn't even incorporate a major gameplay feature. Not played 1943, I might put myself through it if I get time, but I gather the box has what appear to be simultaneous 2-player screenshots, but of course the game lacks that mode.

I guess that should be Wizard Warz? And Human Killing Machine, I mean come on. That's not a game, that's an affront to humanity. Neither game seem very sellable through back of the box screenshots

Which is kinda my point You mentioned a paper procedure and I wanted to point out that if it would be then those two other 'games' would have got onto another budget label as well.

No my point is that 1943 at least looks like a shoot em up so is easier to market with lies.

I admit that coming from the spectrum most amiga 5h17 games did look less 5h17733 to me considered the starting low standards but yeah!
