Floppy drive sound vs sound emulation
Hi,
Floppy drive sound emulation seems to only be active when sound emulation is set to Enabled. So there's no drive sound when sound emulation is disabled or "disabled, but emulated". Is that intentional? I'd find it useful to have floppy drive sound emulation without Amiga sound hardware emulation. When Amiga sound is not needed, disable it to reduce CPU use, but use floppy sound for e.g. hearing that something is loading and hasn't crashed, or that a program has finished loading if you have minimised WinUAE. |

Floppy sound is mixed with Paula audio stream. Not good enough reason to change this, sorry.

Okay, I'll try to think up some more reasons for having separate floppy & Paula sound...
If you have decent external speakers connected to your laptop, you could configure floppy sound to come from the laptop internal speakers, leaving the external speakers to handle Paula sound. Kind of like a real Amiga where the floppy sound comes from the computer and Paula sound from the TV/monitor. If you're recording Amiga music to disk (WAV or MP3) that could also be useful since you probably wouldn't want floppy sounds in the recording. By keeping Paula and floppy sounds separate, you could let Windows handle mixing them when necessary. If the sound card hardware can efficiently mix streams, that could reduce the WinUAE CPU load slightly. That's pretty much all I can think of for now. |

Using headphones it feels that the output sound is significantly muted when the floppy sound is enabled ! (maybe separate audio stream would solve this problem)
