Prince of Persia ST

Prince of Persia's Atari ST version was visually different and with terrible slowdowns. I personally like the graphic result:

btw the number of versions is incredible. Basically each system had a different version of the game, except Amiga.

I like the hires version of Macintosh

I really like the graphics style on the ST. Real shame about the wildly inconsistent frame-rate though.

Peter Putnik did a version with no slowdown that runs on the STE, with enhanced sound.

There's some videos on the page as well as download links.

Amiga/DOS gfx may be simpler than on other platforms but I like it the best. Sometimes less is more.

Exactly, I played the game first on DOS, then got it for Amiga, and kept on hearing about "graphically superior" Macintosh and Atari ST versions. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed when I eventually saw both of them. I really dig the PC/Amiga's stylish, minimalistic approach and all the other versions look super busy and tiring to the eye with the weird textures added all over. Especially the stones are overdone with many other systems, not at all impressive nor eye pleasing.

I also found Prince of Persia 2 off putting for the very same reasons

Btw, PC DOS version of the game is something of a technical marvel. It only takes under 400k and I used carry it on a DD floppy disk and play it wherever I could find a crappy public / school PC with access to DOS. It ran without a hitch all the way from the the modest monochrome local library 8088 machines used to index the books to all the way to the then modern VGA machines, supporting at least CGA, EGA, Hercules, MCGA, Tandy screen display standards and various sound cards, and never refused to run because of lack of memory.

highly agreed. There is something about the clean look to it that appeals me. Any version that looks like Prince of Persia 2 I just can't really get into (including PoP2 itself).

But, that is also bias. I simply saw the Dos version first and that is the version I fell in love with. Luckily the Amiga version was nearly identical.
