It's probably not the motherboard, but the keyboard adapter. What kind of tower is it? This is a common problem in Micronik keyboard adapters.

The Micronik keyboard case just sucks unfortunately. IIRC you can use any PS/2 PC keyboard in its place.
Another alternative is to get a big box Amiga keyboard if you (like me) want the normal Amiga layout. This may require you to swap out the Micronik keyboard adapter for something else. |

eBay or Amibay.
Actually I thought of a third option. It may be possible to convert the Micronik case into something Amiga compatible by using an A500 Mitsumi keyboard PCB with the LEDs desoldered. :-) The A1200 keyboard's flexi cable is 100% compatible with the A500 keyboard controller PCB. The only question here is whether the controller board fits inside the keyboard case neatly. |

You have to change the Keyboard controller with a Lyra 1200 for example, which not suffers of roll-over keys problem.
Common PC adapters have this bug. |

When you have the MicroniK keyboard case, there are two places where things go bad: the keyboard case's Amiga matrix -> PS2 encoder and then later at the computer where PS/2 is decoded back to Amiga matrix. The A1200's motherboard controller was capable of two simultaneous arrow key presses, as far as I remember. :-)

i try with PS2 PC keyboard and it seems work (just some keys to remap in workench (for game is not really impotant). indeed I can let UP press to move forward and turn by pressing LEFT / RIGHT in same time. i'll compare this evening infinitiv keyboard and PC keyboard to compare but it seems i can use cursor keys in gloom |

I have two of these and I can confirm that Micronik keyboard adapter works that way. So it is a feature, not a problem.
Luckily Micronik keyboard kit turns A1200 keyboard to PS2 keyboard. So I use ICOMP's Lyra with both of my Towers. Last edited by utri007; 10 December 2019 at 18:39. |
