Keyboard layout B as default
I can't remember, is there a specific reason that keyboard layout A is set as default? The few times I load up a game with the Quickstart function I always forget to set it to layout B, so I first fiddle around wondering why I can't skip this and that intro or start playing.
So I'd like to see layout B set as default. It makes more sense to me using the cursor keys. |

Me too, Layout B is for gaming, while in Layout B you sometimes get problems in WB when typing, sometimes A or C works best in typing situations, and some rare games... but for most cases, B is the best default choice.. imo

Just a guess but... Keyboard Layout A is probably the best choice as default because laptop users do not have a numeric keypad (so therefore it suits both PC / laptop users)

I have a laptop only-- and B is the only one for me . I never use the numeric keyboard anyway . If a game requires the numeric keys, I just remap them.. easy as taking candy from Bippym.

Hmmm, as I posted without checking before I think I made a boo boo
Keyboard Layout A: Keyboard Layout A (Numeric keypad, 0 and 5 = Fire) Keyboard Layout B: Keyboard Layout B (Cursor keys, Right CTRL and ALT = Fire) This mean that my last post is rubbish then... Hahaha Going by the logic in my last post then I think Keyboard Layout B would probably be more appropriate as default (as then it would suit both PC / laptop users) There's probably a reason why this is not the case though, maybe some games might have these already mapped??? No more posts about this from me... Think I'll wait for Toni's reply (before I post anything else silly) |

Just create default.uae configuration file with your default settings, problem solved. |

Many programs? I doubt someone will load up Workbench through the quickstart function and then Wordsworth to type a letter. This function is probably used a lot by people who just want to play a game for some minutes and the majority of Amiga games are controlled by Joystick, especially damn old jump & runs.
If I want to play more complex games that use the keyboard I still do have some custom configurations set to layout B. |

Quickstart does not set any "host" configuration settings. Host settings come from separate host-config file (if selected) or from default.uae.
