CD32 games - packaging memories (and a big hello)...

Hi all...

Great forum. Have been hovering for a while and always found an answer to my questions without the need for a post. Until now...

I sidelined my A1200 for a Megadrive (and girls!) back in the day when the CD32 was starting to surface. Since then the A1200 has disappeared from my parents loft (given away no doubt) but I've recently picked up a CD32. I've been tinkering with getting WHDLoads to run from custom boots. It's fun(strating!).

Anyway...

Can anybody remember if games came in big boxes? I know SOME of them did, but did they all? I guess a better way of putting it would be... if I see a game for sale in a CD32 branded jewel case at a car boot sale, should I assume it was picked up off the shelf during the late 90s like this or that the box has just gone missing?

Most were just jewel cases but there were a few which came in big boxes. Off the top of my head I can remember Marvin's Marvelous Adventure and Pinball Fantasies (I think it was Fantasies) definitely did, but the large majority were plain old jewel cases.

I suppose there's no way of knowing. Even Lemon shows the box scan of Fantasies without the big box, but I'd always take the word of an actual owner.

P.S. reason for wanting to know is pure unadulterated fussiness.

I'm pretty sure that every CD32 game I bought that wasn't part of the original CD32 bundle came in a big box.

Which, come to think of it... is just Zool 2 and Speris Legacy

In fact, Rise of the Robots, which was part of the bundle, did come in a big box.

I got Marvin's Marvellous Adventure, Zool, Fears, Fightin' Spirit, and Zool 2 for CD32 in big boxes. The problem with some of them is the inside CD jewel case has no label, so they don't look any good on the shelf with the rest of the CD32 jewel cases. It would be nice if someone wanted to make replacement covers for them some day for us to download. Especially for Fightin' Spirit which is one of the best games on the console!

I bought Pinball Fantasies in the shops in the UK at the time it was released, and it didn't come in a big box.

Steve.

PS. Hello, by the way!

Not to thread hijack but seriously, can you go through this attic and post some stuff up on Amigakit please?

I have several CD32 games in big box, Rise of the Robots, All Terrain Racing and Exile come to mind.

PS. Hello, by the way!
It may have been Pinball Illusions then. I bought it about a year ago when Gamestation were still doing retro stuff. I'll check when I'm back home after Xmas.
