A1200.net - New IndieGoGo Campaign (#2) for Keycaps and Special Cases

Dear all,

I noticed we have a thread for the old Kickstarter from 2017 but I could not find one for the current Indiegogo campaign which started 3 days ago..

URL: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/n...a-classics-2#/

Besides the keycaps in all the colors you'd need for your Amiga 500/600/1200/2000/3000/4000 .. you can also get a CD32 themed Amiga 1200 case with dual tone Keycaps.. or the new Carbon Black case with black keycaps.

Thought I'd share that here

Apparantly they've ran into some problems with defective black and translucent keycaps so those that ordered them from the first campaign will have to wait until batch #2 is released in September to get their hands on them.

Now I can stop being jealous of those who got into the first campaign.

Backing a CD32 case for sure.

Did you read the big disclaimer? before paying.
Which states, you are just donating, not purchasing. So if they wanted to, they could just walk away and not give anything.

Allow me to address your concerns. I am part of the team behind A1200Net.

We did the A1200 Replacement Cases on Kickstarter.. we delivered the cases, nobody was left out and at the end of this year, we also get everyone an extra set of floppy drive eject buttons.

We carried on with the keycaps and we have thus far delivered all the regular Amiga keycaps, the Black ones and the CD32 themed ones with the C32 case. We experienced less than 1% issues on the production run, unfortunately this was not caught during QC Check and we are addressing this. The result is that some people have keys that are not perfect and we will exchange them for them. The ones we caught (about 15-20 sets) we put on hold.. as said.. under 1% and not a huge deal although we are sorry for those being affected.

Last year we moved to IndieGoGo.. again.. fixed goal.. but IndieGoGo has ONE huge advantage and that is to keep it open for orders to come in even after the campaign ends. We used that for the Amiga 500 replacement case and the designs are currently being finalised so we can go into the early production phase.

Now, we do the same for the second campaign and again we will keep it open. We already made over 300% on the needed goal, so no reason to be worried we will not produce.

Cases we sell to the resellers.. allow them to make the profit instead of us with the intent to make sure these stores are kept alive and able to make a profit. This will keep the Amiga momentum going.

Keycaps we will manage ourselves and now is the time to put in your order since the injection molds are made. We only need to produce another batch of the color you want. If you want to wait for the 3rd IndieGoGo then sure, that is an option but the chances that this will happen any time soon is slim. We will not maintain stock either, this is custom to order.

I cannot tell you to trust us.. even though we have proven in the past we do deliver and we work with all the major distributors on this.. but if you do not want to miss out.. then NOW is the window of opportunity unless you want to overpay sellers on eBay later this year as it is then being advertised as ULTRA RARE SHIZZLE

These guys are legit, if anyone has reservations. Took 2 years (molds made, wait wont be as long now) but finally got my case and keys and thrilled with them. Some minor quality control issues but response to emails was lightening quick.

cd32 case looks incredible, just dont have a spare 1200!

We appreciate the kind words and we take all/any complaints serious as we want to strive for 100% satisfaction with those who believe in us. Obviously it will not always be possible, but it will always be the ultimate goal.

On a side-note: If you do want a spare Amiga 1200, the ReAmiga project might be the one to look at.

My bank now permanently blocks indiegogo as they are marked as a fraudulent vendor (guessing too many charge backs from disgruntled supporters of failed campaigns). I was able to convince them to let me make a transaction but what a hassle!

Hopefully this doesn’t become a more widespread problem for the platform.

What about the rear trap door screw hole. With last batch of A1200 cases, they were all in random places (i.e. not in right place) and some were even oval.

Will the 2nd batch use the same font for keys as the 1st batch? Seems this really should be improved to match the original font used by Commodore.

Anyone know which drive the included floppy disk drive button is for in the original kickstarter cases and if they will be producing buttons for other drives types?

All four variants are to be supplied. If you use an aftermarket solution which was not meant for the Amiga 1200, we obviously cannot supply these for that drive. You need to look at a 3D printed solution then.

Obviously we will use the same font as we used before and keep in mind we had to resurrect an old printing technology to get the same FEEL when you type. Commodore used a slight variation and I think we are fairly close to what you had..

Did I mention we are not Commodore?

V.1 of the case: Not in the correct position for all cards.
V.2 of the case: Elongated (oval) for more compatibility with other hardware.

Even commodore wasn't 100% compatible as we know now in their iterations.

So no.. it is not all over the place, it was changed with a reason plus it could not have been all over the place as injection molds are not flexible.
