Would be gold if this would be included, or at least a converter to convert bootable directories into hdf files.

Again, why? Just boot from WB disk and mount the directory and empty hardfile normally, format the hardfile and use copy-command.

Writing replacement Amiga filesystem module for native HDF creation is not trivial and not worth the trouble. (and what about non-OFS/FFS filesystems?)

I’m glad I searched now as I was going to post asking if it would be an idea for an option in WinUAE to create pre-formatted HDF images similar to creating blank ADFs. I was thinking it would simplify the problem with kickstart 1.3 saving the user having to swap to kickstart 2 + to format (as shown here). But I know now, from above quote, it's a no.

I think it may be cool to have a MAKEHDF that allow to create HDF with custom sizes different than full Mo sizes. Actually WinUAE Can only set 1,2,3,4,... Mo it may be nice to set 1.5, 1.8, 2.8,... because when we create an HDF, there is space that is lost on the PC HD cos the HDF size can't be defined exactly how we want.
