Cd32 Loading Problems with Compilations

My cd32 is having serious trouble with some multi-compilations. While the 100 game comp. runs smoothly and quickly (even the demos), the 444 and especially the 888 one are giving my cd32 a hard time. Loading takes ages, while in menu the browsing is not responding well, and when launching games i get a black screen interval during some loading scenes. This is irritating because it renders my cd32 useless for demo viewing, demos like 9 fingers or state of the art play for a few seconds and i get black screens interrupting the demos all the time. The strange thing is that this does not happen only in the 100 compilation !

I cleaned the lens ofcourse, tried slower burning speeds (1X) and changed to a better media (Tayo yuden). Any ideas ?

Thanks, i just ordered one, they're cheap so its better to install a new one. I'm just worried that it might be something other than the lens, because some discs do work ok, esp. the original ones and some custom compilations. I'll try it out and see I guess...

I have same problem with these compilations and I have clean CD32 inside. It's problem with too much things at one time, not with console.

Back in the day I was responsible for fixing Wipeout 2097 stand alone F5000 motion bases, when the CD ROM started to die, it would have exactly the symptoms you describe.

Hi,

VERY important (I heared) is the CD-R used and the burn speed slow as possible. Maybe try another copy of it. Menu is very slow, as losding the pictures takes ages.

I have installed them on my A4000 as boot partiiton and on HDD this is really a great menu because pics and menu loading very fast. But I would have to modify it to make it perfect on A4000 as the WHD is then always starting, there is no way out of the game, but a little boot-script should make it possible to boot into menu again by pressing a button. Well, that's just the background behind the scenes how this compilation works because it frees memory by simply rebooting with only the whd in ram.
