Running Demos (.EXE) in WinUAE
Total n00b here. I have an .EXE demo ("Among The Living (1994-05-20)(X-Trade).exe", 190KB, if it helps) and need to run it in WinUAE. WinUAE seems to be able to successfully boot the Amiga when I load the .exe itself into DF0, but I just get an AmigaDOS prompt with none of the usual commands usable. I don't have a HD set up or any version of Workbench or any other OS installed and would like to avoid doing any of that if possible. Otherwise, I'd want to know in advance what OS/version to use (having nightmares imagining trying 6 different versions of Workbench before I find the one that will run this demo).
Thanks in advance for putting up with my utter laziness and ignorance! Edit: I realize my question is absurdly basic, but I really did check the FAQs/abime wiki/etc. and didn't see anything about this... |

Okay, this was fairly simple
Use the A1200 quickstart config, put the EXE in DF0: and there you go! You need the 3.0 or 3.1 kickstart rom for this though. |

If WinUAE cannot detect your supposedly empty HDD, look for zap.exe or wipe.exe. | fmcpma | support.WinUAE | 5 | 08 August 2006 00:35 |
