Shiiiiiiiiiiiit!! Just realised i've put the wrong date of birth... that should be 17, not 37!

I wish......

Ah yes, those were the days hunched over my Amiga, programming, fiddling with DPaint and Octamed, playing games into the early hours of the morning..... ashtray overflowing, cans of "pop" scattered everywhere, discarded chinese/indian take-away cartons..... scares the living crap out of me to think of all those years that have flown by!

I'm 27 as you can see on the left, I will be 28 in 15 days. I look young for my age, guess that's because I never have and never will smoke, drink, do drugs, drink coffee etc . I'm sooo healthy , stretching, working out....

I've noticed people are nearly all that age too. I think it was xmas'88 or xmas'89 when I got my Amiga which would have put me at 13yrs old. I wanted one before that but couldn't afford it - when they dropped to 399 it just about became possible

The ages are relevent to the era if you think about it!

Only 13-18 yr olds would be so obsessive about a machine and the obsession was so acute that 15-20 yrs later the same guys/gals are still bloody obsessed (Replace obsession with compassion if you prefer )

One cool thing is that a friend of mine, Hipoonios, he got his Amiga at christmas of 89' I think, and his MOTHER filmed when he opened the package, plugging in the amiga, and filmed while he was playing on the Amiga for the very first time . I think that's a unique moment. He has it on VHS, but he doesn't want to record it to the computer and put it on the internet for some reason.

I wish I had on tape when I for the very first time got and used an Amiga.

Confession Time 25 years LATE

Have you lot NEVER thought that it could have been a conspiracy bewteen ALL us parents ?

After all the original Amiga 500 was the ONLY serious computor that you could play real games on { the PC was too expensive & a non contender with mainstream gaming }

Secretly every parent "hoped you would actually learn something useful this time "

AS this opposed to being hooked up to old consul boxes where you were just losing brain cells!

So infact it's US that have conditioned you into being fanatics !

Indeed they do Methanoid but I don't need everyone refering to me as "Grandpa Woody ! "

Because for a very long time now, I am in fact Great Grandpa Woody !

So that 698 posts should be age 698? Come on Woody, no-one here would seriously deride you for your age. Besides which I don't want to appear the oldest person around here....

It was bad enough running a BBS at the ripe old ages of 24-27 when all the other sysops were in nappys or were spotty teenagers!!!
