The 100 worst games of all time

This article appeared in the online edition of The Age (Australian newspaper) yesterday:

Quote:
Today Screen Play bravely endures the stench and pays tribute to gaming's biggest stinkers.

If you have any of the following 100 games in your collection, be ashamed. Be very ashamed.

And as usual, free feel to nominate your own digital disasters.
http://blogs.theage.com.au/screenpla...es/004265.html

Only one specific mention of the Amiga in the article (for Epic)

There's also two others, for Amiga CD32 though:

Quote:
12. Microcosm (PC, Mega CD, CD32):

92. Alfred Chicken (CD32):
...and of some others that sucked on all platforms i.e. Rise of the Robots

Blimey.... Out of all that lot, the only one I had was the over-hyped Microcosm, which, fortunately, I didn't pay for. So glad I've not had the misfortune to ever had owned or played the other 99. Phew.

But I might be pushed to play them, after a dozen pints or so of lager first, then those poor badly rated games might just turn out to be "interesting". Anyone up for the challenge?!

Disagree with Hook and disagree with Epic.

Sure, Epic didn't last very long but I liked it whilst it lasted.

And I think Ocean did a good job for once on Hook. They bothered to do something a little different than the usual platformer.

Without more than one person involved, a list of the 100 Worst Games of All Time is worthless in itself. I cannot take such a list seriously if games like Leisure Suit Larry are considered one of the worst games ever.

I don't adamantly disagree with any of those, but I would have included Legacy of Kain: Defiance because the game's camera renders it unplayable.

Indeed - I'm sure my worst 100 would look different to this. I didn't agree that Altered Beast (MD) should be there... that was ok

There's way too high a percentage of recent(ish) games in there to make that list credible.

No Amstrad, Spectrum or C64 games?

Looks like the author only got into computers at the N64 stage and the ones earlier than that are compiled from hearsay.

//EDIT: CodyJ just reminded me that not all 8-bits were popular outside of the UK (or in Aussieland) so I'll hold fire

The C64 was certainly very popular in Australia and I believe some of the others were too though I didn't get a computer until 1990 so don't quote me on it.

Epic was a good game and so was Hook. Also, I loved Alfred Chicken. Zool was worse than that.

They're bashing Dragon's Lair when obviously it was never meant to be the most playable game ever. It should never be judged with respect to gameplay.

And what about Wing Commander IV? Numbnuts.
