I thought this was a poll about REAL hardware ?
I hear what your saying about emulation & HD set up's Hungry Horace
And without them the continued interest in retro would NOT be as significant as it is. So I tried to answer this one based on hardware still used by my family as well, as opposed to virtual or other systems run ONLY by me from a purpose formated multi platform games PC. I have to admit to my OWN satisfaction I am torn between C64 & Spectrum versions of certain old school games.....but then again for pure nostalgia MAME lets me run old atari 2600 mind melters like centipede so I am pushed to decide which gives me the biggest kick ... Thats why I chose the number of household user option |

well we all know them chemical company's will try anything to exploit a new product... okay... in this instance they have kinda gone to far. kinda shity in the public relations department me thinks. So i wonder whom makes the the plastic or holds the patent to the ABS plastic that goes into out beloved gaming and creative computers? ohhhh lookie..... its BASF..... but hang on.... this was one of the larger conglomerate company's that were IG Farben...... Its amazing how its all intercalated these business isn't it ? I wonder what dubious past Kellogg's the cereal make would have? hmm theres a whole quagmire of shit that happened back then, the truth is that not ALL of the sick people (on all of sides) were prosecuted... hmm i think persecuted would of been as fair... and now we are back onto persecution.... lets string up Bill McEwan simply because i cannot stand his smug grin any longer.... sorry guys chuckling at the irony.... if it was't for BASF we would have less tapes to use on our spectrums or c64s'.... we wouldn't have ABS plastic ... saying that we would use something else that didn't yellow after a couple of years either! and I thought Micro$oft was bad..... wow way to political.. but them's the 80's for you..... btw PSX for the WIN!!!! |

Amstrad CPC for me,
I had both 64k and 128k versions. Tape and disc drive models. Green and colour screens. My introduction to computer art. (with Advanced Art Studio) My first online experience @ 1200bps lol. It was a 'can do anything' computer - a bit like the Amiga to follow. |

i voted megadrive purely because it was the first gaming console i ever owned and had awesome games like roadrash and streets of rage.
the snes would be a close second since my mate had one of those and we used to alternate between playing mariokart and streets of rage. fun times. |

I had to go with the C64. It wasn't just a games console, though, and I certainly used it for a lot more than just games, but that seems an aside.
The PSX (and DC, et al.) had more advanced games, but was a far cry from the C64 in technology too. There's only one way to even compare them, and that's on the gaming experience itself: how much fun did I have playing games for each system, and for how long. I loved games on the 64 and for far more years than I even owned a PSX. |

C64 for me, I spent WAY too much time as a kid on that machine. I had all of my games transferred to 5 1.4" floppy with the use of an Action Replay cartridge and loaded them from my 1541 drive.
If you don't like the C64, you never used it properly..... Merlin |
