No hiccups during scrolling here with these settings on 50Hz PAL:

Parameters

Pixel clock: 28.6
Line freq: 31.126
Scan rate: 49

Horizontal

sync time: 3.492
Polarity: Negative

Vertical

Sync time: 0.064
Polarity: Negative

To test you need a game with smooth scrolling! Some games have bad scrolling and are not suited for testing. I always test with my favourite; Turrican 2.

well, changing the scan rate to 50, or 51hz just makes things worse, so I was adjusting the sync time to make smaller increments in between each scan rate. But it never really helped anyway..
I was testing slamtilt without any startup, (after you load a table it scrolls smoothly vertically).. but it was still jumping every 6 secs..

@Flashlab
I checked and those settings are identical to mine (default)
I ran turrican II from floppy rather than whdload to try something different.. It's still skipping about every 6 secs

Do u guys think this could be caused by something like the stock A4000 psu?
Maybe video port is a little faulty?

Also - When I used to run winuae a lot a few years ago - I remember the scrolling doing EXACTLY the same thing when I had the output set to 50Hz - being perfectly smooth but skipping every 6 secs or so.. hmm..

What is the power like in Oz? 240v AC @ 50Hz?

I am not 100% sure but I think that one big box amiga clock (clk-tck) comes from the Power Supply phase. Unsure if that could cause issues.

What accelerator (if any) do you have?

What are the A4000 motherboard jumpers set to?

Which buster do you have?

* Yup Oz is 240V AC 50/60

* Full 040/25/FPU/MMU on A3640 v3.1

* Jumpers:
J100 - External
J104 - External
J151 - 200
J852 - 1M

I have df1 jumpered as df0 aswell.. my HD floppy is dead

* Super Buster 09

(Remember tho.. winuae had EXACTLY the same 'scroll jumping' problem for me at 50hz.. what could this mean?? neway it's confusing enough as is lol.. )

I noticed you haven't tried forcing the piv to zorro2 mode using the jumper. Mine doesn't work with all card combos in zorro3 mode.

This wouldn't be an issue would it? Zorro III card and Buster 09? Can't change for Buster 11?

Well I've been away from my smooth scrolling woes for a while now.. i was hoping it was just the PIV's time of the month.. but alas no.. the problem remains :P

I tried forcing the card to zorroII mode but it makes no difference.
Anybody else think the buster revision could cause something like this?
I tried capturing the problem for you guys but it doesnt help recording video at 25fps Plus I'm sure you all understand the problem anyway..

Darn what could it be

If it only happens at 50hz, why don't you try 100Hz? Your monitor can handle 30-96khz, 50-160Hz, and seems like a good monitor on paper.

Weird it is happening in Winuae, I take it is full screen mode? Maybe your eyes are just sensitive! There is a vsync checkbox which may be handy.

Also, have you checked your monitor's menus to make sure it also says it is displaying 50Hz?

Trying 100hz I get the usual ghosting effect.. but rather than a 'jump' every 4-5 secs I get screen tear/ripple from top to bottom every 4-5 secs..

I 'always' had the 'jump' problem in winUAE, surely that has to be coincidence. Havnt used it in a looong time but back then I spent countless hours trying to solve it. I used to get mouse lag aswell. My old thread about that is probably still on here

I've checked both monitor's menus and they are correct.

This PIV came with the latest flashROM already installed.. is it possible that there was an error when it was originally flashed? Could this be a possible cause for this kind of behaviour?
I've noted that tweaking the tng settings just below or just above 50hz increases the jumps to every 1-3secs.. so it's like the FliFi is slightly off with it's settings or something.

I'm running out of options now.. it sucks that my a2000's scan-doubler/flifi performs better than this PIV
