A2000 - B&W picure when using red,yellow,white ports

On my A2000 I get ab&w picture on my tv when using the red, yellow, white ports on the back of the amiga. I have tried using 2 diff cables, 1 scart and the other red, yellow, white.

I get a colour picture when using an rf modulator but the picture quality is not so good.

Any ideas?

Hmm, to my knowledge only the original Amiga 1000 had a builtin colour composite output. The phoenix board upgrade to make it more like the A500/a2000 made the yellow port a b&w output. Someone can correct me if I am wrong here.

The scart output should be in colour unless perhaps your tv is not in exactly the same format as the video signal from the amiga (i.e. there are different types of PAL/NTSC video modes).

A2000 only outputs black and white via it's video Phono connector.

You need an RGB SCART cable which connects where the RF modulator connects.

A composite SCART cable (SCART on one end to 3 phono jacks the other) is useless on an A2000 (unless you want black and white!)

The colour composite signal from the RF Modulator shouldnt be too bad.... but get an RGB SCART cable and you will notice the difference.

When I said SCART should be in colour, i meant the RGB to SCART cable (oops!).

Yes you will notice the difference, so much clearer than composite (yellow port)! And especially worth it if using higher resolutions such as 640 pixels wide. Note that this is on the amiga monitors 1081/1084. Not sure how sharp your TV is.

Well you can't get much clearer than the A500/A2000 monochrome port, but of course colours are a nice thing to have too..
