Cedric - problem with forest level

I have a problem with "Cedric" - level 5 (forest). There is an Elf King and he wants me to free his son. When his son is free King says that he gives me a root as a reward. But after conversation there is no root in my inventory or on the screen. So, where is it?
It looks as it is a bug in the game.

Yes, the english version of that level has a bug. You must play that level in german.

bug fixed!

the game uses control sequences to trigger actions when messages are displaying.

The control sequence to give black root is 09 then 04, and of course it was "lost in translation" when converting to english.

fixing the text (I botched it ATM) makes it work

IMHO game is so hard and long, a few people probably reached that point without cheating.

it has 11 levels so it's huge. It's a bit tedious at times with all the "puzzles" too. I couldn't force myself to try to complete one single level...

But 11 levels that's really big. Impressive & not so monotonous, with varied enemies & challenges. Too bad it's not an AGA game because it could have been better looking with more colors (it's already okay)

I had to edit 3 files for this !! zoned the files. Floppy users don't deserve it, but for you I'll make an exception

Yeah, I had the level codes, and just forced the cheat for help key.

Info was in whdload readme already

BTW I didn't test the floppy fixed version. But with level skip, it's easy to reach the part where you meet the king.

I'm sure the "fixed" floppy disk version now in The Zone! is fine

...as it's using your modified "306, 404, 405" files, which I assume you also use directly in the WHDLoad slave.

A question though; was the CD version also borked?

In the whdload slave, I patch the executable when loaded (from one of those files). That's very strange that the data is present in 3 files! I'm pretty sure there's a lot of code/data duplication and only one file needs patching, but never mind.

Yes, the CD version has the same files and thus it's also borked.
