Is there a way to change the title of the post, I meant to say every and not ever. I tried to edit but it just changed the title in the post itself and not in the main list? There was also no option I could see to delete so that I could re-post. Thanks.

This is part where you talk about taste and / or preference. Glad you found games you would return to, but that is very subjective...

I think it was at least close to 3000. I'm sure I missed some. The compilations I used would sometimes have corrupt files. If I couldn't find a working one somewhere else I would at least watch a Youtube video of the game. It was a lot of fun to go through, I'm kind of sad now that it's over.

Yes, it is subjective and everyone's list would be different but I think there are a lot of objectively good games in there. I also have an expanded list that has more games that I personally liked but this one I let general consensus factor into it slightly. For example just before I posted it I removed Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Action Game that I liked as a kid and Tusker which I like the graphics of. I prefer a game with good graphics, anything that looked too 8-bit would have to play super well to make either list.

You sure have some bangers there in that list! Can I ask if you tried Wayne Gretzky Hockey?

I did try both 1 and 2 and didn't really like them outside of the cool intro animation. I must say I might be bias because I was always a Mario Lemieux fan so it was always 66 over 99 for me!

Great list, lots I love there and a few I haven't checked out. Surprised you've left out Lotus 1, to me it plays better than the other two. Any reason why R-Type 2 didn't appeal? I take it you're not keen on American Football, from the lack of Madden or TV Sports Football?

Aquanaut - which one? The one with the scuba diver, or the submarine one (Cybernoid style)?

I am also surprised, you liked Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands and Snow Bros, but there is Parasol Stars missing in your choice.

Thanks, it was a lot of work to put together but a great time overall. Lotus 1 I left off because of the 1 player split screen. As for R-Type 2, that's a good question, I can't quite remember. I know I did the R's early in the process so for some reason it didn't compel me to write it down. I'm actually going to add it to my personal list so I can go through it on cheats (like I do on most shmups since I kind of suck at them) and maybe figure out what it was. Yes, American football games are a little complicated for me these days. I liked TV Sports Football as a kid and Madden looks good but at this age I find them too much like work. My favourite games involve only small amounts of thinking

Aquanaut was the submarine one by F1 Licenceware. Yeah, I think Parasol Stars didn't appeal just because it seemed a little more kiddy to me than the others for some reason. I know most people really love it.

Good to see nearly all the games I worked on in that list

With the exception of Heimdall, but I guess that doesn't qualify as action

Agony is nice... if you consider it a game you need to complete on one life, just like Project X. The later stages are brutal. But the levels are also not too long so it is actually a game which invites that challenge. I rate the game higher now than I would back in the day.

No Metal Mutant on the list? That game is so freakishly weird, which is why I love it despite its trading blows gameplay style which usually tanks an action game for me. It has a little puzzle element to it to recharge and save at the right times.

Yes it is all very subjective but surprised to see no Defender of the Crown, UFO Enemy Unknown or It Came from the Desert!

Nice list on the whole though.
