Just posted about http://hol.abime.net/hol_search.php?N_ref_conversion=8 and then noticed TCD had beaten me to it :-(
Definitely a quicker and more accurate/complete way of generating this list, hope you did not waste too much time on it. |

I think he topped himself because the company was collapsing, but yea, a few games lost out on sales but those two were the best ones. Judging by charts from the time, Mega-lo-Mania was out a couple of months earlier so had already done okay, but that UbiSoft double pack (which I bought) was damage limitation for both developers. Not sure how many that sold, or how much of the money went to Vivid Image and Sensible. I guess what they mean is that its reputation and popularity meant there was demand for a sequel (although it took ages for them to do a publishing deal for Second Samurai, which I think is why the A500 version doesn't work on the A1200 despite being released a year after it)

I stand corrected? Man there is no sign of it on the title screen, at least not the one that i found. Looks like a different game though :/
Not a really good one though, maybe that should have tipped me off. |

The review scores were quite high across the board according to HOL, so perhaps that is what is meant by "success". Seemed like a good property to take a chance on, putting out a sequel might create interest in the first game as well.

Plus the commercial failure of the First one wasn't due to market rejection but rather company bankrupcy.

Have to add Blockout, F1 World Championship Edition, Final Blow, G-Loc Air Battle, Galaxy Force 2, Gaunlet IV, Jim Power, Mig 29, Nobunaga's Ambition, Onslaught, SS Lucifer Man Overboard, Total Football, Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf, Winter Olympics, World Class Leaderboard and World Cup USA 94. Have to delete Batman Returns, Last Action Hero, Moonwalker, Rambo III and Risk for being too different and Ms Pacman for being PD. Looks like HOL has Afterburner for Genesis but I can't find it listed. Also have to add Amiga developed to Flashback, Jim Power and Nigel Mansell. |

And just for fun since I clearly have too much time on my hands I quickly went through the HOL List for SNES and there are 123 games in common with the Amiga, so pretty good. I won't bother keeping a comprehensive list for SNES but the Amiga games on that console that weren't on the Sega Genesis or Sega CD are A-Train, Alfred Chicken, Bombuzal, Brainies, California Games 2, Civilization, Cool World, Dennis, Drakkhen, Dungeon Master, European Football Champ, First Samurai, Home Alone, Lambourghini Challenge, Lethal Weapon, Magic Boy, Morph, Mr Blobby, Obitus, Operation Thunderbolt, Oscar, Pierre Le Chef, Pinball Dreams and Fantasies, Pushover, Putty Squad, Sim City, Sim Ant, Soccer Kid, Spindizzy Worlds, Super Loopz, Super Putty, Total Carnage, Troddlers, UN Squadron, Ultima VI, Untouchables, Utopia, Whizz and Wizardry. I think a lot of people would be shocked that the Amiga shares well over 220 games with the 16 bit consoles. Last edited by lionagony; 25 January 2023 at 19:39. Reason: added SNES talk |
