Number 1 Chiptune Musician in the World

Have come to the conclusion that LHS is the Number 1 Chiptune Musician in the World. Emotional melodies and sounds just make so many of his tunes a joy to listen to. I have never heard a Chiptune Musician so insanely good as LHS, just pure gold to the ears.

Sure I liked some of Archons stuff, just like E-Max's stuff, but 4-Mat was consistent for such a long time, and then when he branched out onto doing his chip stuff on PC, well, Broken Heart is a masterpiece.

As music is very subjective, and everyone has different taste, I think best is in the ear of the beholder as it were....Here are some personal favourites:

I never owned a C64, but when I borrowed a mates for a few weeks, this blew me away. Has to be amongst the best game soundtracks ever IMO, also by Ben Dalglish:

I'd find it hard to choose one, but if I could choose three I'd say TDK, emax, and Dezecrator (his tunes seem to get very little recognition, unfortunately. Check out the Classic intros for Spiderman and Time Soldiers).

Musical taste is such a subjective thing. Surely "technical mastery of their instrument" is the only way to judge who should qualify to rank among the "BEST" chiptune musicians? If that's the criteria, Tim Follin wins hands down.

Arguably, neither of those are among his best compositions, but you have to admire the effort and determination involved in realising the impossible. On the Amiga, Tim's 1988-vintage contributions to Bionic Commando and LED Storm are still astonishing and timeless.

I never cared for those jolly pseudo "chip tunes" made using the 4-Matt method, synonymous with 00's PC cracks/keygens, but 4-Matt's original Amiga track showcasing this new concept was a game-changer, sending musicians like me on a quest to find out how it was done:

For me personally, restricting things to the Amiga, I don't think anyone ever surpassed these two tracks, both from 1989. Step forward Felix Schmidt and Paul van der Valk:
