Buddha IDE 20th Anniversary Edition in Amiga 4000

Need an advice.

I want/need/have to buy something to expand my Amiga 4000.

Looked a bit around and stumbled across the Buddha IDE 20th Anniversary Edition.

Does this make sense in an A4k? Is it somewhat faster than onboard IDE? I have currently two harddisks built in, so there is no ide port left.

I did not find a good info about large harddisks/partitons with this device. Will large partitions connected to the Buddha be available directly at startup before any patching through the OS?

I’ve got one in my A4000 that’s working fine. There is no speed difference from onboard IDE. I’ve got a CD and DOM on mine. I’m running OS3.1.4 and OS3.9 BB 1&2.

Go for FASTATA 4000 if you have 040/060 (not 3640 :-)). Or if you have Cyberstorm go for SCSI with IDE/SATA adapter

If all you want are more IDE ports then the IDE expansion from amiga68k[1] should be sufficient. You'll need to use AtapiMagic (under driver/media on aminet) for the extra IDE interfaces to appear.

I believe the later Buddhas have a clock port which could hypothetically open up something like a Rapid Road USB interface. From what I've read the Buddhas are slower than FastATAs. I'm happy with my FastATA IV, but I don't have a Buddha to compare.
