Is there anyway to change the 16gb image to like 15gb? I've come across two cards that are 16gb by name only and register as slightly under 16gb in reality and I find I can't fit the 16gb image onto these cards using HST.

Actually one card may as well be 15gb so I just wanna know how to make an image that can be a custom size?

I executed the HSTWB instructions for the 8Gb version with OS3.9 to the letter and it starts perfectly on my 1200 and also on the 4000.
If I do the same procedure on the same Compatc Flash but with OS3.1 it doesn't Boot.
What am I doing wrong ?

OS3.1 relies on Kickstart 3.1. Amiga OS3.9 doesn't? Your Amiga has KS3.0 maybe so WB3.1 is failing? Its a bit of a guess to be honest, i don't know much about OS3.9 and its requirements.

I did have a similar issue when creating a bootable disk from my Workbench install disks too, on a real Amiga 1200. Turned out one of my install disks had some CDRom filesystem files on them which were being installed, loaded by a custom startup and was screwing with the whole OS. I must have made these changes to the disks about 25 years back, i thought they were clean unmodified workbench disks. I downloaded some ADF versions and used those instead, all went fine after that.

So maybe a clean, or at least different set of workbench disks might help you too.

Hi guys, I have a question regarding an issue that I'm facing with HSTWB, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
The issue is with user packages, everything else works just fine (install OS and other packages and everything runs as it should).

As you can see from the screenshot about the User Package Status.
I have managed to run successfully the "build_install_entries.cmd", WinUAE is pointing to the correct userpackage folder in the HDD section...but still that's what I get.

Any suggestion?

(Edit: apparently I have sorted out the issue by running WinUAE manually instead of launching the process via HSTWB, yet it's weird, could this be related to a bug?)

ok i have a question about hstwb.

i have ran both scripts.
i can run the hdf in winuae and everything installs as it should

if i burn the image to a cf or sd then run it in my amiga it will not find the os, it will not find the kickstarts and will not find the userpackages.

it will install the workbench and finish but then i have no demos and no games.

i am at present doing the games and demos manually on my pc then transferring them through opus on my amiga which is a complete ball ache but atleast i am getting there slowly.

anyone know why this is not working on my amiga?

thanks for help

Yes it is, but do you want to open the .hdf image on your Amiga or PC?
Did a quick search in Google with this searchtext: how to open amiga hdf files
Following the first link that pops up leads you back to EAB. Good luck.

So you understand that you are supposed to use WinUAE to setup the whole thing, adding the kickstart / os/ userpackages etc from your PC? After it's all done you then take that hdf, write it to you card then you are good to go.

Hi, if I'm already happy with my personal os 3.9 installation and I want to use hstwb only for installing whdload games and demos and if possible also bootmenu with pre-configured igame and ags2; Which steps should I take compared to a normal from scratch installation?

With AmigaOS 3.2 just released, it would be nice to see HstWB support it, maybe even combine it with Classicwb like what was done with 3.1.4.

Was thinking the same thing to have 3.2 added to the options would be really nice... above my level of knowledge but hopefully someone in the community can pick it up and give it a bit of an update.

I think it's been abandoned unfortunately. I submitted a patch a year ago to fix a bug when running the scripts on Linux/Mac, but I didn't hear back from Henrik : https://github.com/henrikstengaard/hstwb-installer/pull/34

Would be a shame if it was abandoned, its a good project. He has not made a single post on here in over a year as well so who knows what he has been up to since.

I've decided to do a clean 3.2 install BUT I'd like to reuse the HstWB generated userpackage install scripts for the Retroplay EAB packages.
Do you think it's possible, or can they only run under HstWB installer ?

HstWB Installer - Making preinstalled HDF legal for sharing

Pity if HstWB would be abandoned, because it is by far my preferred distro for Amiga.

I managed to adjust the packages I use (only four: BetterWB, HstWB, demos/games pack for AGA or OCS) with the WB 3.2 but I have “cheated”. I started from a fresh WB 3.2 installed one and then I applied the four packages on top of that. It is kind of working, however it is not up to the Master Henrik’s level.

The AGS demo/game packages can be updated with the procedure that he described earlier in this thread, although I haven’t tried myself.

I share the idea of potentially motivating him by donating either the WB 3.2 or the money to buy it. This is just the start, because all the hard work comes after: whether this could actually motivate Henrik, unfortunately, I don’t know.

I was chatting with a guy on the Commodore Amiga facebook group who was on pintzandamigaz with Henrik a few weeks ago and he is going to resurrect the project. I think he's waiting for OS3.2 as some of the old programs were incompatible with 3.1.4 up.
