The chorus in Paul Stanley's "Live to Win" sure sounds pretty pretty familiar..

Arcade music is sometimes just elevator music that noone pays attention too. There were a lot of noise in those places back then (Atari created excellent music though: Paperboy, Marble Madness...)

On the other hand, when you're alone with your amiga with the volume cranked up, it's different. They sure did a good job enhancing the arcade music! Other examples of that: Pang intro on amiga. On arcade, there isn't any intro music.

Everyone is a minority at least once in their life!

8/10 for me, absolute classic and that its a perfect copy of the original for quite an early Amiga title is just better still.

Sorcery? It's a basic piece of music.

The Amiga version is good, but not perfect and definitely not "better" than the arcade.

Not because of Music, but because of Paula. It seems to impresse time after time. I can say that is the most powerfull chip-custom of the Amiga HW.

The sound on the Paula video is just louder and probably more compressed than on the arcade video. The videos really are no basis for judging quality of the respective audio outputs.

I can't hear any "sorcery" going on, it sounds like fairly standard Amiga music from the late 80's.

And judging sound quality based on youtube-videos (that might not even be captured from real hardware) is just stupid.

Imo the amiga version sounds much better, punchier, fuller, more satisfying all around. The tune is a classic, I'm not judging by those vids btw, I've listened to it many times from the actual systems' output (well, MAME for the arcade).

So, in reality you haven't heard both versions from the actual system

I didn't get to play very many Arcade games in my youth. When I play arcade game in Mame I noticed that many of them have no more than adlib sounding music, even if they have fully digitised sound effects. Was that really the case in the original games or is that just a Mame quirk because it can't emulate instrument banks or something?

No, that's how they actually were, MAME emulation nowadays is nearly perfect for most games.
