Will continue this game later (if my computer does not crash).

Game hint: Let at least one alien live in level 1 and wait patiently.

Edit: A note to Lifeschools tips: The Money ship is mainly red and NOT identical to the Thief ship (Cash sucker)! Apart from this, a good read.

You can't continue it later. If you've posted your score that's it for that go.

Didnt know this.
I think it would be appropriate to write this explicitely into the rules, as I have not seen anything regarding to that case. Its not an ordinary continue, since I am not taking a snapshot of the game or the like.

Thanks!! I read in my research that the money ship was different from the cash sucker but I didn't believe it till now. Never seen one of those. I also read that the money ship appears after the 'hurry up' ship has appeared 8 times. Will have to check this out and see what happens, then I'll certainly update the tips. Thanks again.

Anyway, I do not think anybody would get at least 1/2 of your current score. I tried my best and I have currently 2.6 mio for Lemon team.

Harry: This is the first time I can ever recall anybody taking a picture of a game 'in progress' that they wanted to continue later so such an eventuality never occurred to me. However I think it is a dangerous precedent to set if we are going to say people can start playing, post a score and decide that they are merely taking a break from their current go and going back to it later on.

--

My first score. First time I have played this game since the last time we played it in the competition. As you can see from my top score, I'm a little rusty at the moment but it'll come back to me I'm sure.

I thought it was in the rules, but it has perhaps only been discussed during rounds (some time ago). I thought the rule was the score had to be made in one sitting (toilet breaks allowed ).

I also thought that we didnt except scores that are in progress (like yours). To try avoid an issues with cheating. ie, Invincibility is used and the person cannot actually die.

I knew this round would be a pain in the arse!!

I can't recall us ever saying we don't actually accept scores in progress - we've accepted several from people when their games have crashed etc. Unless that should be an inclusion in the rules from this point onwards?

This may have been discussed in pre super-comp times? or i may even been dreaming?? Or a different comp altogether???

I think it should be in the rules. But that doesn't mean we cant make exceptions for certain games if need be.

Games that have crashed are certainly NOT in progress. It's game over point. Never post scores before game-over point.

Harry:
If the game crashes or freezes then it's game over anyway so thats ok. There are no rules to say you can't post a score from a game in progress; just as long as when you post the score you don't continue with the game (as you could have a 2hour break, sleep, eat, watch TV and then come back to it refreshed). If you take a screenshot of your scores every so often in case of a crash, then just post the latest screenshot before the crash. Otherwise just post your final score from the highscore table as usual.

Here is my hiscore screenshot just for information.

Not accepting screenshots from within the game would be a serious problem, because Deluxe Galaga crashed often (2 of 3 times) within the play for me on my A1200. Dont know if that is better on E-UAE.

Thus i took screenshots every 500000 score.

Edit: I dont think the 73 mio score on the previous competition was reached without having a large money supply. (No screenshot available anymore for the 75 mio score).

Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure it used to always crash on level 3 on my real Amiga 600 (with 2MB RAM). With the 2MB PCMCIA plugged in (giving a total of 4MB RAM) it would get a few levels further.
Perhaps it doesn't like the A600/1200 hardware?

I hope to have time to post a score at the weekend.

I've never had a problem with the game on my A1200 on the various setups I've owned (standard, 030 and 040). Does it happen with both the regular and WHD versions?

With the regular version I have sitting on my HD since 15 years. I was surprised that a WHDLoad version exists, and used that one now in the hope to avoid problems.

PS: My favorite tune for DG is The Alibi by MHK. I can listen to this tune for hours.
Hint: Just copy your preferred tune as GALAGA.MUSIC into the game directory.

Which music format? Mod, Tracker or something else?
