Help getting SpaceJest working?

Hi all. I'm trying to track down a working copy of SpaceJest, a text adventure I remember being fun but never could complete.

There's a version on Aminet but it fails to load for me in FS-UAE with A500 and A1200. Screenshot attached.

Originally I would have gotten it off of Amiga User International Superdisk 58 May 95 but no longer have that disk.

Can anyone help?

That's not the point as it runs also without Amos.library.

Here it works in Winuae
- A1200, Kick 3.1, ClassicWB Lite
- A600, Kick 3.1, ClassicWB 68K
and also on a standard vanilla OS 3.1

Did you get it to run?
Guru 8000 0004 is "illegal instruction".
Did you unpack the lha correctly?
Maybe unpack again using DOpus or lha directly on the Amiga, if not already done so...

PS: I guess you have enough Ram assigned in your config.

Ah ok, I didn't read that text. Interestingly when I removed amos.library from Libs: it ran well (on both configurations). However now mirthturtle should try a little and give note =)

I think my problem stems from not having Workbench "installed" (or maybe booted from?) or any of the utilities/libraries on my Path, so I'm going to try to dig into that this weekend and learn some system stuff. Thanks for the help everyone.

Space Jest should work out of the box. Personally, I was able to run the game right after unpacking the Aminet version. Lots of people have used JayBee's Amiga in a Box as their first emulated Workbench, it is a breeze to set up. Good luck!
