Chinon FZ-354

Does anybody know how to configure the jumpers on the
back of this drive to act as DF0: ?

At the moment it will load at bootup with no problem, but if the
hardrive boots up instead, then the drive comes up as DF0:Unreadable !

You have to close DS0, MD, RDY and TTL/C-MOS ..

Very odd that it doesn't work for you.

When you turn the computer on with a disk in the drive,it will boot
from disk !

But if you turn the computer on with no disk in drive and wait for the hand
to come up and then put the disk in,it won't do anything ?

You assume right !....Is there mean't to be ?

There is a micronik Zorro III board connected to this set up
if this makes any difference and also a buffered 4 way ide interface.

The right jumper config is:

DS0, RDY, MM, TTL

So in your diagram it is 12, 55, 88, 99.
Should work then. If it doesn't there could be a jumper on the mainboard set wrong ( in case of Amiga-2000 )

The Amiga is a 1200 by the way...........

Ok........i tried a Panasonic drive.,no jumpers on the back and this worked great !

So i took this out and put my Chinon FZ-354 in with Overdoc's settings, and still
it comes up with DF0:Unreadable.......I think this drive was from an A3000.would this make any difference ?

If i hold the 2 mouse button down upon startup and select df0: as the boot device it will boot up ok !

Then, when it has booted to workbench,it shows the workbench disk in df0:

But when you eject the disk, the drive doesn't dissapear.

Also,it is not automatically polling (clicking)the drive to see if there is a disk in there or not ?
