Only the question "What is the meaning of live?" has a larger range of responses.
Be more detailed. |

Ok, I dont know what software you are using on the PC. But if it uses a DOS mode, and its talking parallel, XP doesnt allow DOS mode to access Parallel. Infact no matter what you do, XP will not allow DOS mode programs to access Parallel (even serial I think).
I recommend that you have a machine dedicated (windows 98) for talking to your A1200, and network that via ethernet to your XP machine. Once your 98 machine talks to your A1200, software depending you might even be able to share your Miggy to the XP box as a shared drive. |

you can tell startup sequence to tell the system where to look for programs. PATH DH0: C: RAM: will cause the system to check DH0: for a file, if it doesnt find it it will then look in C: then if not there it will look in RAM: so in the startup sequence, after that command, you put EDIT as the command (not that you would, only as example) it would search DH0: for EDIT, then C: and then RAM: - if it doesnt find them then, it will return file not found. "Assign test: dh0:test" Assigns the device name Test: to the directory DH0:test then you can call a filename with "Test:filename" that resides in that directory. OR, ASSIGN LIBS: dh0:some-obscure-directory when a program calls "Libs:" for its library, the system calls "DH0:some-obscure-directory" for the directory.... its up to you to make sure the library is where you say it is, or the program will usually go spastic. which workbench is likely to do if you set it to some obscure directory and it cant find its system libraries. Sort of like assigning L: in workbench 1.3 somewhere else, and your Harddrive is formatted under fastfilesystem (fastfilesystem is the driver for the HDD, in 2.04+ this was moved to kickstart)..... oops. Erm....The Ram is always thare, but in the startup-sequence it is told to let him show on WB.
As for the Path, it first need to assign C: and more things to make a path to it. And if i tell DF0: and the disk is in DF1: (As my Ami does not have a HD, not yet anyway) IT go's mad. I hold loads of CLI commands ( C: ) Thay dont fit all on 1 disk, so i have made 1 FULL! disk and name't C. It loads the disk, but now it also asks for more disks, like ENV and Libs ![]() I only need that when i start a Progy, that it uses the C Disk. ![]() As for the Conection PC-Amiga. You meen install win 98 and lose all things from Win xp, and then bring back win xp , AND ReInstall evrything :suspiciou :suspiciou :suspiciou That will take age's. And somehow you always forget something when doing a Fresh install. ![]() Now i am here. Can i Use a 2.5" HD from a laptop? ![]() |

It sounds like you're trying to run a workbench without a startup sequence.
Same Doctor that requested Workbench 3.0 in the shoutbox? ![]() |

I'm afraid there will be many more problems than just the dots, as you'll be missing many lines that call vital programs and allow the classicwb to run. It's not something that can be written by hand.
![]() Google still works wonders (just checked), but our official stance on this board is that you must purchase a workbench disk from cloanto (or we get nasty threatening e-mails) |

Ok, you have the disk. Those dots are because you're trying to setup the startup sequnce by hand, like I mentioned above.
Follow the install instructions! |

I did. i did. Place the Zip on your disk. run the ADF. Place in a WB 3.0 disk when he asks.
I got WB 3.1 Running great. See? But as you can see, all basic. ![]() This is what i got from getting it to work. (((Don't mind the colours, as this is a jpg))) All i need is the icon, i guess. And how do you get that nise menu? I do all THIS in WinUAE. ![]() As for the Startup-sequence. i do that on a real amiga. my main goal is: Get a Wb running as cool as the first pic on my real Amiga 1200. But want to make it perfect on WinUae. |

These workbench packages are designed to install on winuae and real amigas without installing another workbench first! They install ONTO A FRESH CLEAN HDF OR HARD DRIVE PARTITION. NOT OVER THE TOP OF ANOTHER WORKBENCH.
Ok, dealing with installing it on WinUAE first. From the instructions: WinUAE install method using a HDF: --------------------------------------------- 1. Setup WinUAE with a configuration that at least matches the minimum specs outlined in the text file provided with this Workbench. 2. Add at least one HDF file to the harddrives tab and call it any name what you want. It will automatically be assigned as DH0: 3. Add a PC directory to the harddrives tab. 4. Place System.zip into the PC directory added in (3) 5. Boot from your Workbench 3.0 disk/ADF and format the Harddrive/HDF DH0: - Call it anything you wish. Copy System.zip from the PC directory onto the harddrive/HDF DH0: 6. Boot from the install disk/ADF provided and follow the on screen instructions. If you're having problems following these instructions, perhaps you need to read some of Pauls how to files All I can say is many people have installed these packages without trouble. I can appreciate it's more difficult for you when english isn't your first language. ![]() At least you are getting that post count towards ten, not far to go now. As for file transfer, many people have discussed this before. Do a search. Last edited by Bloodwych; 23 January 2004 at 14:35. |

Go to the hard drive tab, select this HDF and make sure under device it's listed as being DH0: Place the ClassicWB_install.adf provided into DF0:, boot and follow the instructions, inserting WB3.0 disk when told to do so. Then everything should work. ![]() |

You've got the right zip.
The small one you're downloading now is an upgrade package - you need to install the one you've already got FIRST. |

By the way have you tried AIAB (link)
Not very useful for real Amigas but in WinUAE it's great. It also has a Dutch language pack. ![]() |
