Am I right in remembering you had the same card as I did (NVidia 540M), if so as I mention guest.r's 'crt-arcade-hires-smartres-interlace' filter is doing around 90% so even without reshade you can still get close. With my config linked above (http://ilovecubus.co.uk/pete/winuae_setup.zip ) just using the .uae file the reported CPU usage in winUAE using that shader and my resolution/settings it was only hitting around 10-20% on my old machine, so you should be OK.

Just tried this on my machine which is older than DamianDs

Phenom II X4 940 3GHz, 4GB ram and a GTS450 and this works just fine. no issues that I have seen and been testing multiple games and apps.

Good memory

Indeed my Acer Aspire 5951G has an "Nvidia GeForce GT 540M" graphics card

@guest.r (some of) your shaders aren't fully compatible with WinUAE HDR mode - are you going to fix them?

Use SDR for now. Or you can use fake HDR with reshade.

Meanwhile i have been motivated a bit more to update the ReShade shaders, designed especially to be used with WinUAE crt shaders (thanks to a nice feedback from blog author and his super article.).

You can grab the shaders, including ReShade versions here:

So I am using shaders with winuae but for some reason the screen will go black if it switches resolution, say going from RTG to High/low res.

Any chance of a crt-geom-royale conversion, there's one that works with reshade shared in this thread, but I cannot really be bothered with that, just a standard one would be great, I've done some playing about in retroarch and it really is the best crt filter I've seen, would rather use this in WinUAE rather than pUAE. no idea what state that is in (stuff seems to work, but WinUAE is just the preferable option)

Honestly, crt-royale is technically so advanced it gives ReShade porters a very hard time, minding all the multipass scaling stuff, dependencies etc.

It's your best bet to use the ReShade Royale port from here:

https://github.com/akgunter/crt-royale-reshade

Or use it from the libretro repository with ShaderGlass:

https://github.com/mausimus/ShaderGlass

Currently there are unfortunatelly no real possibilities for a WinUae port.

There's more urgent thing to fix in WinUAE - a way to notice a shader if current mode is laced or non-laced, or auto switching of separate shaders for laced and non-laced modes.

Currently non-laced shaders render wrong scanlines in laced modes and vice-versa, breaking immersion for many games and demos which switch modes.

Toni implemented separate shaders for non-laced and laced modes - could you please fix interlaced shaders (especially my fav CRT-Guest-SM-Hires-SmartRes-Interlace) scanlines offset? Or make it configurable. Or give me a hint how to change it.

I would love HDR version of CRT-Guest-SM-Hires-SmartRes too...

Hey, that's really nice. I think i found a good compromise for the mentioned issue, with a touch of real interlaced situation.

I added two more shaders to my repository, one 'crt-sm' produces dense scanlines, the other progressive output. It makes no real sense to display low resolution (or more precisely 'half-resolution') scanlines, because some pixel will always get a horizontal line in it and get halved.

You can also use lanczos, jinc2...

Here is a link to my WinUAE shaders repository:

https://github.com/guestrr/WinUAE-Shaders

Edit: dunno yet about the hdr, it's effect is best displayed on/with crt masks, which currently have special ways to manifest. Will keep an eye on it though.

Dense one looks great, thank you!
Yes, low resolution scanlines on interlaced modes make no sense - their height always needs to be half emulated pixel.
Version with low resolution scanlines still seems to be vertically shifted/unaligned to emulated pixels...

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same HDR - I don't mean post processing effect but actual HDR output of monitor (10-bit in my case). On WinUAE Miscellaneous tab there's D3D11 HDR experimental mode, your shaders get some kind of black outlines in this mode (had to use camera because it's not easy to do proper screenshot in HDR mode).

I tested the experimental HDR mode and it seems to work fine on my end. But it happend quite often that the drivers i'm using are quite forgiving...

I changed a shader version a bit, it could work better now, but needs some testing with an alternate setup.

Looks nice on my 4K LG OLED. Though the default brightness/Bloom settings are a bit high in HDR mode. With a bit tweaking it's enough for me.

HDR problem fixed!
Would it be possible to apply that to dense one too?

Fixed! Along with the A2080 shaders, which look much better now with hires.

Newest versions of the shaders can be downloaded from my github repository:

I attach the dense version of @guest.r ingenious CRT-A2080-HiRes-SmartRes-Interlace shader.
I simply mimicked the changes made to CRT-Guest-SM-Hires-SmartRes-Interlace-dense in relation to the non-dense one.
