Overscan Area Blanker / Half Integer Scaling
Hi Toni,
I really like how the overscan area gets blanked out when using the filter option of 'Automatic Scaling.' I've taken to using 'Automatic Center' recently and was wondering if that effect could be added to the other scaling options too? Also, I get really good results using the horizontal and vertical drop-down multipliers. Auto integer scaling would be ideal for me except that it doesn't select the half multipliers. Any chance of an Auto Half-Integer(?) option or something? Sorry if any of this has been brought up before. Thanks ![]() |

![]() Um, I use a 1080p screen and the Image fits nicely at 2x horizontal and 2x vertical size. As you know this is a 'clean' scale so no odd sized pixels and no shimmering or pixel-creep when scrolling. Pinball Dreams/Fantasies are good for testing this. Some games that don't use the whole screen (Lotus 2 for example) are nice to zoom in on a wide-screen monitor. If I select 2.5x horizontal and vertical size they become a good fit again. The scrolling remains clean as before so you can get away without bilinear filtering for instance. I'd basically like a similar effect to automatic scaling but keeping the pixel size consistent. Hope that makes sense and I realise it's a pretty specific request. Thanks ![]() |

I had also been thinking about this.
So it would be: 1 = native pixel 1 m = pixel 1+2 mixed 2 = native pixel 2 Might really be a good idea, could be looking nice. |

No it doesn't, but at least it fills the screen vertically and makes the game run at a much better speed.

I think Cristian is talking about LowRes screens in general, both PAL and NTSC ones. When I scale them 2x at both sides, they get very small and dont fill the entire screen. Thus what Cristian is saying, is to scale them 2.5x vertically, so they gets taller.
This is one of the reasons, why I posted in WinUAE subforum about the aspect correction issue I have with Multisync screens when I mix PAL/NTSC screens usage with Multisync screens usage. The aspect ratio does not combine. |

"half-integer" (x.5 and x.0 multipliers allowed) mode will be in next beta.
