HDD for 1200 which one ?
Hi, I will be (probably) new owner of functional A1200 with blizzard (I had one a1200 but with not working mobo)
I want to ask you, for a help: I have 2 types of HDD - 160gb hitachi SATA, 30gb maxtor (half size) ata (3,5") (both mounted on my PC pentium, but I will dismount them and amiga will use them better! ;-) I have also 20gb 2.5" hitachi, but I havent 2,5 - 2,5 cable, only 2.5 - 3.5 Amiga will have 3.0 rom (I am planning to instal 3.5 os or 3.9, (amiga will come with 3.5)) Its possible to use these hdd on my amiga ? and which are best ? (AFAIK there is a 4gb limit) is there way how to use full capacity of drive ? eg 160gb of sata ? and how to do it. I didnt find any board where was enough info for me, but if you find link, paste here I will read. |

I recommend using the 2.5" Hitachi drive, as they fit in the case properly and tend to use less power than 3.5" drives. If you have Workbench 3.5, you will be able to access all of the available space on the drive. However, you must have Kickstart 3.1 ROMs in order to use Workbench 3.5. |

I would recommend the 2.5" GB HD too.
if you want to use Workbench 3.5 you will need to upgrade the kickstart roms, yes. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think with Workbench 3.0 you can use the whole 20GB of HD if you load it with the SFS filesystem. 20GB is too much anyway ![]() |

Even if it wasn't sata, connecting a 160gb hd to amiga would be a complete waste!

I actually only have around 8GB in my Amiga - 4GB for AmigaOS and 4GB for Linux.. Of course if it was my main "do everything"-machine, then I'd have a bigger disk.. At the moment I just samba-mount stuff over if I need it. :-) |

Network drives rule, it saves my arse over here, but I'm already running out of space in all available drives! :P
