Recording sound in WinUAE
I am having trouble recording sound in WinUAE 2.50b18
Each time I go to the Output configuration screen & click on Pro Wizard 1.62 it tells me "no music modules or packed data found". Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Wave audio only recording is hidden, select output file by clicking "...", change Save as Type (default is "Video Clip (*.avi)") to "Wave Sound (*.wav)".
No need to touch Audio or Video buttons. |

No .wav only sound output possible??
Hi there,
i didn't want to make up a new topic, since my questions do fit in here, i think. Just wanted to record Amiga music into a .wav file, but... WinUAE always creates an .avi file no matter what switches i try under SOUND/OUTPUT. Tried "..." Selected .wav as extention and even selected DSOUND (since WASAPI doesn't support 44100 Hz output. Set all checkboxes in Sound on an off, but no luck at all. I even get to crash WinUAE if switching from .avi to .wav exiting WinUAE with a messagebox that the output file already exists as an .avi... So does anyone know what EXACT switches or steps have to be taken in order to ONLY get a 44100 Hz .wav-file and NOT an .avi containing only sound? I use WinUAE for several years now, but i simply don't get it. Thanks in advance. |

This is how the panel looks when things are set to work in my case (I use an old version of Winuae - 2.3.3. but I think it won't have changed):
Although Toni said in #5 that there is no need to touch the video/audio codec part, here is how I proceed. 1) Click on video and select cancel, this way it switches to "no codec". 2) Click on audio and select the audio codec I want 3) Select Output and choose .wav Then click on enable AVI output. This is how I recorded the melody of Rhals : [ Show youtube player ] |

Video codec is automatically unselected and output changes to wave mode when "wave audio" is enabled.
Sorry, I can't duplicate this problem without more information. |

Okay, thanks for the infos to everybody.
If was my fault that i selected "PCM - 44.1 KhZ" under the Audio-Button. This will activate the .avi renderer again... "WAVE (internal)" is kind of irritating, since one does not know if the audio will be rendered to a file or to the soundcard (-> speakers). Maybe WinUAE could show "Wave (renderer)" when one selects "output.wav" so that the user really knows that the audio will be rendered to disk and no additional button needs to be pressed. Thanks again for the fast responses. Last edited by wizzel; 21 October 2012 at 20:32. |

Weird logic is due to way output panel was introduced.
Originally it only supported AVI output, both audio and video codec settings are AVI-only (uses Windows AVI functions). WAV support was added much later. |

Is there a way to avoid horizontal stretching when recorded with normal line mode? It's ok with double but slower.

I found solution to my problem but with automatic resize option WinUAE generate only single video file, should make new each time screen is resized like DOS Box.
