KryoFlux FREE for AmigaOS Classic released
The Software Preservation Society is proud to announce the release of KryoFlux FREE for AmigaOS Classic.
This new product is the free and public release of the original dumping tool used for over a decade of software preservation. Recently replaced by acclaimed forensic imaging device KryoFlux High Definition Flux Sampler for USB, KryoFlux FREE for Amiga brings top notch imaging quality to the Amiga – for free. With the recent boom of new accelerator devices for the Amiga and the sustained support of this platform by the community the Amiga is still to be found on many desktops. We are proud to be part of this community and love using this machine - for recreation, fun, and occasinal dev work. There are still situations, where a classic machine is nearby, but shipping our next-gen device KryoFlux would take too long or is impractical for other reasons. KryoFlux FREE for AmigaOS is our final release of the classic Capture Tool which can image any MFM encoded double density 3.5“ disk around, be it Amiga, Atari ST, PC or Acorn, to name just a few. The CT raw file format generated is small and compact and typically does not take more than 2-3 megabytes for a complete disk. Because of the new IPF decoder library 5.0 (binary for Windows only, source and more ports coming soon) also released today, these image files can now be used in many emulators out there, including, but not limited to, WinUAE, FS-UAE, E-UAE, WinSTon, Hatari, STEem, Caprice and Spectaculator. This means that over 10,000 CT raw data images created and submitted to SPS, in addition to the IPFs generated, now can be easily and directly loaded in the emulator of your choice. Our successor, KryoFlux for USB can also export such raw data images (image type 2; „-i2“), so any KryoFlux for USB stream dump can easily be converted to the very compact raw format as well. KryoFlux FREE for AmigaOS works on any system with 68020 or faster processor and at least 2MB ram, harddisk or e.g. compact flash card. It does not come with any obligations or require paid for services. It is completely free - just download the software and start using it. We'd like to thank everyone for their 12 years of sustained support, donations and feedback. Let's make sure those old disks don't vanish into oblivion. Sincerely, The SPS team Now get the downloads: http://www.kryoflux.com/download/kffree_amiga_3.7.zip http://www.kryoflux.com/download/ipfdec5_binary_win.zip If you are looking for the latest WinUAE, get it here (this link is very likely to expire when a new version comes out): http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae_2710b11.zip For more information about KryoFlux for USB, check your website and forums: http://www.kryoflux.com http://forums.kryoflux.com |

Man this is sooo fecking cool.
I did a quick test using Rainbow Islands (Power-Up) & NY Warriors 1MB version stream files converted to CT raw. Everything works like a charm. Thanks to all involved for making this happen. |

So with this new tool, what are the restrictions of people uploading the raw files to the zone for other people now ? will they be allowed ?
Do these dumps now fall in the realm of ADF's of the same games ? |

Not our decision; I assume everyone is responsible for their actions. A raw file is apparently a raw file made by someone and not like an IPF file, which was (likely) coming from us so... I'd assume this should be ok.

I'd say MrVince is right about any kind of raw image, ie CTR or stream - so it's up to the mods of EAB.

I guess the restriction on IPFs will be lifted once user-generated IPFs will be available too - just a hunch

kaffer uses Fedora I think so I installed that in VMWare Player and installed his Disk-Utilities, I have about 98% of my own disks as IPFs now thanks to him

So we can't really tell if an IPF is made with those tools or is an official one by SPS. I mean... it's surely not certain anymore

Wait a moment! I made a similar question to SPS team, in the past. They answered that they would arrange the format so that a sort of "fingerprint" in the file would tell if the .ipf is "original" (I mean: from SPS) or from some user. I hope this will be done... I don't remember now which was the thread. |
