CDTV Zorro port

Hi all,

I`m sure I spotted an Amiga 500 style CDTV zorro adapter being made somewhere..
I cant find it online now?

So, I`m loooking into making one - but poss Zorro 2 - based on various A500 -> Zorro adapters out there.

Would anyone be interested?
If so...
Where should the zorro slot go?

Matze said he was working on one in this thread: https://www.a1k.org/forum/index.php?threads/88943/

It's worth noting that the cfgin signal of the CDTV Diag port is not connected to the DMAC's cfgout pin - so when designing autoconfig devices / zorro interfaces for the diag port you need to add a circuit that will assert the cfgin signal when it sees kickstart write the Z2 address registers of the DMAC

Exactly. There is literally zero room in a CDTV, especially after you've fitted a CPU accelerator. I can't imagine why anyone would want a Diagnostic port -> Zorro II adapter if you couldn't put the lid on.

What would you plug into it?

I'd really like PiStorm team to fix the bus arbitration so we can use PiStorm in CDTV (in CDTV mode).

I have designed a real time clock battery back up for the CDTV, so the time is kept (although display off), while no mains power connected.

when I get a mo - I`ll start a new thread with this.

There is plenty of room under the CDTV motherboard. The Zorro slot could be redirected under the motherboard with a cable. A similar solution exists for the CDTV 68060 accelerator.

Even PiStorm would need to be redirected under the motherboard to be able to close the lid.

Mine doesn't. I've fitted low-profile sockets to the CDTV motherboard and the PiStorm carrier board and I'm using a RPi Zero 2W

This is how it is shaping.

No full size cards, no DMA and 12 v from CD-drive power connector.

How many cards you know using DMA? or do you mean full size?

Prety much every new card is half size. So RTG, AHI., USB, LAN are all options to this.

Define new?

Thylacine USB is full size. X-Surf LAN is full size.

GBAPII++ RTG might fit that is full width half size.
FreeWay Pro might fit that is about the same size.

No. Actually most Z2 SCSI cards are PIO.

Only Commodore, GVP Series II and few others (not common) are DMA controllers.

I have impression that majority of SCSI cards uses PIO, instead of DMA.

There is a Mini-Thylacine, and several different other half size USB cards. Recreated Prelude has at least two half size forks, where AmiBlaster Deluxe is seen many place. Icomp's Buddha is small. There is also this https://gitlab.com/MHeinrichs/Zorro-LAN-IDE IDE/LAN card half size.

[QUOTE=alexh;1645997]Any SCSI card.

But the CDTV's rear expansion slots are for CDTV SCSI cards, you wouldn't need Zorro for that. Not saying if it was possible you wouldn't, nor invalidating your point on size. Just pointing out that getting a SCSI Zorro expansion to plug in a SCSI Zorro card is bit overkill considering the rear slot cards are pretty cheap and do the job.

Seems like you could fit a Prisma Megamix under there. Then maybe route the CD audio through that and back into the motherboard. Or one of the smaller cards that has a clockport and fit a Delfina too.

Interesting. I'll change my phrase from "all SCSI cards" to "the most common SCSI cards".

I've got at least 5 Zorro SCSI cards (A2091, A4091, Fastlane, GVP HC-8 Impact Series II, Dataflyer 4000 SCSI+) and I think only one is PIO

Nice. But @ +£180 it is quite expensive.

AmiBlasterDeluxe can be bought from a1k.org 150€
IDE/LAN/Clockport costs 115€ from amibay.

What is this? I see an MP3 something or another and a codec. Yet there's an audio breakout. But you say IDE/LAN/Clockport. What's all the sound stuff for then?

Those are HW project which some individuals build for sale on those www-sites.

For A1k.org you would need own account.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about a single board IDE/LAN/Clockport available from different places. Not two different cards. These are both sweet though.
