Pimp your Workbench!
Hi all!
I've not been around for a while, and having installed Workbench 3.1 on a HDF in WinUAE I've forgotten all the cool stuff to install to, well, literally 'pimp my Workbench'. Can anyone list all the tools that they use (perhaps with a link to Aminet?) to get their Workbench looking and acting more modern and up to date? Anything welcome, be it graphical or functional! |

Better just look for a package with the programs pre-installed.
AmiKit seems a good choice, here's the link http://amikit.amiga.sk |

Thanks for the link anyway, I'll have to check it out. Edit : I checked it out, but unfortunately 'Workbench 3.1 is NOT supported!'. I only own WB3.1 |

I second DamienD's opinion about ClassicWB.
Also if you install it, look around what's on it and check what tools you find useful. Then either ask Bloodwych or post question here on forum. Also Paul's tutorial has most of needed tools to start with. |

I remember seeing a guide called "This Old Workbench" but it's offline, but the wayback machine looks like it has the old site archived

Thanks for all the help, I'll check some of these out.
Although I see I can get AmigaOS 3.9 for a bit under £40. Can anyone who has it say if it's a worthwhile investment? |

unless you got a gfx card (and in truth most cases even if you do) go for OS 3.5 its cheaper for one and has a smaller footprint.
If you want all the yummyness of a modern OS then lump in linux and use a emulator to run the old software (there wont be much slowdown on native hardware... infact hardly noticable) |

I've been trying to use newedit, but I didn't figure how it actually work. Anyone had had any experience with it?
Ps- it helps copying over some selectors where it usually wouldn't be allowed to Last edited by pixie; 30 June 2023 at 19:45. |
