Apollo Firebird AGA on AmigaOS issue

I have recently came into possession of the New Apollo Firebird card - my brother had a big ole barny on the discord got booted and said he wants nothing more to do with "Apollo and their Shitty Customer support" hence chucking the card to me... the crux of his issue was that the magical AGA feature dosnt work on bog standard Amiga OS or at least not with the most upto date core - after flicking through the discord support channel I saw a few people asking about this and staff give the answer "it only works with Apollo OS due to unknown issue with Amiga OS" is anybody here smart enough to figure this out? as it seems Apollo team either cant or dont want to! it would be a shame not to use this especially as I ended up with it for free!

What is the issue, nobody can fix it if we don’t know what it is exactly and even with that one need to have the HW. The V4 is running under AmigaOS 3.2 as the Firebird is based in ´ the same technology it should work, maybe SetPatch is doing things the Firebird don’t like.

Perhaps because You are trying to use a Kick 3.1 (40.063) for the A500, but AGA requires a Kick 3.1 (40.068) for the A1200.

If only that was the problem - biggun stated he disassembled the rom so i would assume he used the correct rom. I myself have tried the a1200 versions 3.1, 3.14 and 3.2 as for it being based on V4 this is true but its not as simple as a V4 due to having an actual amiga strapped to its back.

The issue is if you boot into aga mode by holding down the fire button on boot it just hangs for ever on a black screen. Apolloos does not and works in aga mode. Problem is i dont like apolloos i want to use amiga os.

I think BigGun is working to fix it even for AmigaOS.
So be patient.

Yea i know he is working on it - i was just looking for insight from some of the resident experts here... sometimes the people working on the problem cant see the wood for the trees so to speak.

No offence but have you actually read this thread? at the moment Amiga os dosnt work with AGA mode only ApolloOS

OK, I admit you state that in the opening post but I believe that is an artefact of Gunnar's personal vendetta with the AmigaOS developers. I have never heard about any systematic incompatibility of any of the Vampire cards with AmigaOS. Most owners seem to immediately replace ApolloOS with the AmigaOS of their liking.

After a reflash you are quite right - it is now functioning! I would still like to discover the mechinism that cause such an issue to start with.

In fact on Discord channel the problem has been solved and users are testing AGA mode.
