Amikit & Latest WinUae versions?

Hi Toni (or anyone that can help)

Was just playing with Amikit 1.61 and noticed it was running on version 2.3.3 of Winuae, I thought why not update it to the very latest beta 14 and see how it goes.

Well it guru's sadly, I've enclosed the logs, is there a way to make it work with the latest or is it a lost cause?

I know its more Amikit than Winuae so I won't be surprised if you choose to leave this one alone?

EDIT: Should say that beta 14 works fine on its own for me...
EDIT 2: I've not touched the settings in Amikit or added any other programs, its Amikit as it came from the site, only the Winuae changed.

Works for me but I never use ready-made config files.

Your log is incomplete. Did you use restart?

Ok, but it may depend on where the AmigaOS came from, which distro?

Try to track it down with Enforcer and SegTracker...
or just wait a few days, Jan is working on the new release of AmiKit 1.6.2.

Oops forgot to restart Toni BUT since Peter says there's a new version coming I'll just wait the few days to see if its ok then rather than bother you.

The OS came from my roms dir, I presumed it (romfind) was happy with the one it found?

Same ones I've used for ages but I didn't look at what distro.

Cheers Toni and Peter...

I may be back

EDIT: Here's the logs again just so you can see them Toni...

At least attach complete log and explain exactly when it crashes. You asked for it = you are not allowed to wait

I read your mind and have just added them to the previous post..

It crashed about 85% through the percentage Amikit booting bar

Edit: Here's the guru message..

It is still incomplete (startup messages missing) and contains multiple sessions.

DO NOT use Restart button or do not reload config files.

Exit winuae completely, run winuae, load correct config, start.

EDIT: and which guru? Always same or does it change?

No, I was not talking about the Kickstart ROM, but all the other files from the CD, like all the libraries, devices, tools, commands of OS 3.5+. All these CDs have totally different versions of these files included. AmigaForever for example has a wild mixture of all kind of versions, neither a copy of OS 3.5 nor of OS 3.9. And some of these files are not working as I would expect it. So, it's not just a click on the installer and let it go, but more a think twice and try again...

Having probs here, was giving you the logs via the Amikit start program, this clearly was giving you short logs but if I try running it direct from Winuae its throwing up missing rom errors.

I've tried loading the config and ticking the create logs as per nomal but for some reason its only making the winuaebootlog.txt and not the winuae.log...

Which of those do you need? (bet you say both

Is this any different?

Still the same problem but there is one suspicious bsdsocket related message. Does it work if bsdsocket emulation is disabled?

What was last working version?

Sorry for the late reply (family life) no, bdsocket disabled does not affect it.

2.3.3 final obviously works but I've not started going through the 2.4 beta as I know 2.4 final does not work..

What's the link to the beta's Toni please...Always forget to bookmark the damn thing

Links in old beta threads (at least 2.2 and newer) are still valid. Just search

Righty, got them all and ...Drum Roll...

Its Beta 23 of the 2.4.0 where it causes the guru

Here's the Changelog

- CPU Idle change improved, b22 caused major slowdowns on some systems.
- MB RAM option + JIT enabled detected wrong amount of RAM. (Can't have extra memory barrier there)
- Directory filesystem ACTION_DISK_INFO and seek updates (ACTION SEEK had some problems in archive mode)
- Sprite debugger showed 64-bit AGA sprite shape totally wrong.
- END + PrinScreen (Screenshot to file) used incorrectly screenshot to clipoard input event.
- Legacy vsync was horribly slow (b22)
- optimized normal safe "unixfs warning: Bad pointer passed for read" directory filesystem situation.
- added win32 ERROR_BAD_NETPATH = AOS ERROR_OBJECT_NOT_AROUND mapping directory filesystem error handler.
- improved filesystem volume insert/removal stability.
- config file/uae-configuration/custom input math formula (+-*/ and parenthesis) support. For example it is now possible to increase or decrease any numeric configuration entry, very simple example: "gfx_filter_horiz_offset=[gfx_filter_horiz_offset+1]". Multiple variables and complex formulas fully supported. This was already in previous beta because it was too experimental, but I guess it can be considered "official" now because of CDFS delay..
- A500 advanced chipset extra option always enabled RTC (real time clock), should have been enabled only when more than 0.5M RAM configured.
- built-in AOS CDFS removed, unfortunately it is not license compatible (non-commercial usage only). I was too blind to not notice it months ago.
- CDFS replaced with host native Linux isofs/directory filesystem wrapper which works quite differently but should have exactly same behavior from Amiga program point of view. Uses filesystem emulation but accesses CD data using Linux isofs filesystem code that directly reads CD sectors via IOCTL native API or UAE built-in CD image support. Amiga specific rock ridge 'AS' extension (protection flags and file comment) is not supported yet. Does anyone know any example CDs or images?
- AROS ROM updated.

New isofs/directory filesystem CDFS hybrid needs testing! 2.4.0 final waits until CDFS is guaranteed working.

Nothing interesting in changelog except CDFS but it should be disabled in amikit config anyway. (because it didn't exist when amikit was last updated)

What guru? Always exact same?

yes, iirc, although it can on a mouse clicked reboot have a 2 at the end but then it goes back to the 4.

I'd not worry too much Toni, the chances are its a by product of the Amikit config and nothing to do with your masterpiece of emulation quality...

To get a clue where the Guru comes from in your AmiKit startup-sequence you could add the following line at the top:

set ECHO ON

and also uncomment the two lines with ShowAmiga96:

; SYS:Utilities/Expansion/ShowAmiga96/Bin/ShowAmiga96_Rev239C18

; SYS:Utilities/Expansion/ShowAmiga96/Bin/ShowAmiga96_Login >NIL:

and if you like to get more info copy SegTracker into C: and start it below SetPatch:

C:SegTracker >NIL:

I got totally fed up after trying everything and started from complete scratch..

And now the bloody thing works with the latest beta????

MAJOR egg on face for me and HUGE Apologies to Peter and Toni for wasting your time...

I really have no idea what the issue was, I've had Amikit on before, maybe it was still on there and part it it was corrupt??

Since starting from scratch its ok so I am sat here very annoyed with wasting peoples time..
