French version request to existing whdload game

Hello,

I have a french original disk of Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego.
It won't work with the original 'CarmenWorld.lha' whdload port.

Possible for someone to add that version in ? Most likely a very simple port.

Thanks !

Request it here :

http://mantis.whdload.de/search.php?...e_status_id=-2

You can start by creating disk images. What hardware do you have? Just an Amiga? A1200? Perhaps a Kryoflux? Supercard Pro? GreaseWeazle?

Normally you cannot create ADFs from original disks (or rather you can but they don't work) because the original disks typically contain copy protection.

Perhaps this game had no disk copy protection?

I can see comments it had text-based copy protection (almanac or something?) but that does not preclude the possibility of disk copy protection as well.

I KryoFluxed it at home. The game runs fine with the image, no copy protection that I can see.

Thanks. I added a note to your Mantis request.

This is an ADF? Do you still have the original kryoflux low level dump? Could you make a new one? It will make dlfrsilver happy

Unfortunately your dump is bad.
It's infected with Lamer Exterminator
Code:
Sect 664 seq 85 => Data block destroyed >>Lamer Exterminator type B<<
Let the intro run, when music starts and the policeman run across the screen a read/write error requester pops up.
I also tried your kryoflux raw dump and made an ipf, same thing happens.

This disk has been written over by an Amiga.

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego is a duplicated game......

I am not that surprised, given that these 'Back to School' original floppies were given away by a friend. I wasn't the one who originally purchased them.

Oh well. Thanks for your effort anyway.

This game was duplicated on a pro machine.

Was i see when checking your dump is that all the tracks were copied with an A500.

Or if it is, it was over written at some point.

You sometimes see this. An original disk stops working. The owner writes over it to fix it.

It would explain how you were able to turn it into an ADF.

There is also the possibility that dlfrsilver is wrong.

He believes the original disks were written on a trace machine in a commercials disk duplication house. You can detect this in the dumped disk data.
Okay your explanation makes sense, yes. I've gone ahead and deleted all traces of that disk and dumps.

Is there a link for non-UK users to buy a GreaseWeazle?
Or a way to contact the seller/author, so that I could order one from here (Italy)?

A friend of mine lended to me a GreaseWeazle F7 v2 (2020), but maybe a v4 (2021) is way better?
The F7 v2 would seem good (I successfully made Amiga/Atari/ZX Spectrum Disciple disk images) but I have severe issues using it for WinUAE's direct access. It's not working with it... I get read errors on all tracks!

If Keir Fraser lives in the EU maybe he can ship one to me from there, or show me a link to a cheap one (I remember seeing one from a polish user, maybe?).

Maybe WinUAE's direct access to an Amiga floppy via the GreaseWeazle 'broke' someway in the last release?
Did anybody test it recently with his GreaseWeazle?
