TPUG Amiga Collection

The Toronto PET Users Group maintained a collection of Amiga disks that I am making available. There's a large collection of monthly disks that were issued to interested members, along with various irregularly issued disks in different categories (communications, games, app/game demos, AmigaVision, etc.). Some of these disks were also issued at various World of Commodore shows in Toronto.

I've uploaded the collection to the FTP (~Uploads/coldacid/Non-TOSEC/Commodore Amiga - Collections - Toronto PET Users Group), for anyone who is interested. These ADFs come from the TPUG library CD issued by the club in 2009, and some disks are missing -- see the MISSING.txt file in the directory for details on what isn't available.

NB, some of the disks are just relabelled copies of disks already in TOSEC:
  • TPUG Amiga Pictures and Animations Disk #02 (19xx)(Toronto PET Users Group)[pn (A)P2] --> Commodore Amiga - Demos - Slideshows / Space Photos (demo) (1987)(Signs Etc)
  • TPUG Amiga Games Disk #08 (19xx)(Toronto PET Users Group)(PD)[pn (A)G8][Star Trek disk 2 of 3] --> Commodore Amiga - Games - Public Domain - [ADF] / Star Trek v1.0 (1988)(Twisted Images)(PD)(Disk 2 of 3)[h QTX]
  • TPUG Amiga Pictures and Animations Disk #12 (19xx)(Toronto PET Users Group)[pn (A)P12] --> Commodore Amiga - Demos - Animations and Videos / TrackBall (1988)(Dr. Gandalf)
  • TPUG Amiga Demos Disk #4 (19xx)(Toronto PET Users Group)[pn (A)D4] --> Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF] / Battle Squadron - The Destruction of the Barrax Empire! (demo-rolling) (1989)(Innerprise)(NTSC)
  • TPUG Amiga Demos Disk #5 (19xx)(Toronto PET Users Group)[pn (A)D5] --> Commodore Amiga - Games - [ADF] / Persian Gulf Inferno, The (demo) (1989)(Innerprise)
  • TPUG Amiga Music Disk #6 (19xx)(Toronto PET Usres Group)[pn (A)M5] --> Commodore Amiga - Demos - Music / Audio X (1989)(Crusaders)
In addition, two other disks are already known in Crashdisk's Non-TOSEC collection:
  • TPUG Amiga Pictures and Animations Disk #03 (19xx)(Toronto PET Users Group)[pn (A)P3] --> Commodore Amiga - Unclassed - [ADF] / PFX Demos (1988-06-10)(Mindware International)[b corrupt file]
  • TPUG Amiga Music Disk #5 (19xx)(Toronto PET Users Group)[pn (A)M4] --> Commodore Amiga - Unclassed - [ADF] / Ace Music #2 (1988-11-25)(Patino, Harold)
For the disk contents, there's a scan of the TPUG Amiga catalog from fall '91 uploaded in ~Uploads/coldacid/Non-TOSEC/Commodore Amiga - Catalogs that includes a couple of supplementary pages from early '92. While this doesn't cover all the disks in the collection, it gets most of them.

If anyone has physical copies of TPUG Amiga disks, please check the missing list and let me know if you have any of the ones considered MIA! And if you have any TPUG documents (catalogs or other) please scan and send them in.

It is truly amazing to see stuff from Canada appear after all of these years. Thank you very much!

Honestly, I'm surprised that TPUG's disks haven't before been added to TOSEC or the like! This is just the Amiga stuff, too -- there are hundreds of disks for Commodore 8-bit systems (including for GEOS, COMAL, and CP/M on C64 and 128) that I have yet to go through and appropriately rename.

TPUG had also released a series of MS-DOS disks (intended for use with the PC10-PC40 clones from Commodore) but unfortunately I don't have actual images for those.

Thank you for highlighting these productions

There are indeed many things missing in TOSEC including TPUG, I hope to fix it soon!

I grew up in Pickering, but yeah these days I'm in Courtice. Hopefully one day I'll be somewhere in Peterborough County or north Hastings, but for now I still need to be close enough to Toronto for work :/

If you can, you should come down to a TPUG meeting one day. The club's still active.

Well, feel free to pull in the TPUG Amiga collection whenever. Just don't expect the 8-bit collections to be organized any time soon, because there's A LOT more disks for those...

Their website seems still active, and if you read the comment/review on the web archive org ...
