Stock A500 & Indivision ECS showing PAL
Hello all,
A simple question those "in the know". I recently purchased and Indivision ECS and installed it in my stock A500. This is an NTSC model. When I run the Indivision config tool, it shows NTSC. But when I run SysInfo, it shows PAL. All the games I try to run, that actually boot ok, seem good. Is the machine actually in PAL or NTSC? Even though the original Denise is OCS, does adding the Indivision ECS actually make it an ECS machine? I have been out of the Amiga hardware scene for quite a few years, so these are questions I can't seem to find answers for elsewhere. Thanks in advance, Ron |

Hello fellow American,
Your machine is probably NTSC. The nice thing for us indivision users is now you can display PAL or NTSC as needed, it doesn't really matter what your machine's native mode is because it is all going to a monitor instead of a TV / 1084 with 15hz signal. If you have 2.0 roms or higher you should be able to select NTSC / PAL by holding both mouse buttons down at boot and see of that changes anything. Whatever the default is on that menu is what your system should be. I have a PAL A1200 and had to order it from the UK. I did this on purpose because most of the games are PAL. |

Hmmm.. It has 1.2 roms in it.
And agreed, doesn't really matter, I was just curious about the inconsistency. Why would SysInfo report PAL and the config tool show NTSC. All my games are NTSC and they all play. Thanks, Ron Quote:

I have the same issue with my stock A1200 machine. Sysino3.23 switches into PAL mode instead of staying in the NTSC-Hires mode that Workbench is in. Is there a config file or command line input to for NTSC mode for testing?
edit: found the issue... the machine boots into PAL by default. If I use the boot menu (holding down both mouse buttons at boot time) and change the display options from PAL to NTSC then SYSINFO shows up in NTSC mode instead of PAL. This is rather odd since this is a US A1200. Last edited by JimDrew; 19 November 2015 at 23:01. |
