Amiga 2000 repairing Battery Damage
Hi all
I have got hold of an Amiga 2000 with a rev 4 board which has the dreaded battery damage I have treated it with vinegar and IPA for a start but while doing this the outer casing of one of the componets broke off FB212 but not sure what it is. Tried looking at the schematics but cant find my rev onthe other revs the part is a EMI but on the rev 4 board to me it looks like a Diode but I am no expert also does anyone no where I can get replacement 9 pin D-sub for the 2000 the ones I have found say for 500,1200 and 4000 as you can see from the pic mine have corrosion on them and might be best to change them out. many thanks |

I can’t help on the other bits but it would be worth taking the db9 ports off and soaking in vinegar for a few hours, then scrub and rinse with water/IPA to see if they clean up (currently going through similar on a Rev 6.2 A2000, the above method has worked nicely on my keyboard socket).

FB is just Ferrite Bead, basically a bit of wire wrapped in ferrous material and is supposed to reduce interference on the line. It will still work with the outer case gone but you can replace it if needed.
DB9 ports are pretty standard. the ones for A500, A1200 etc will fit. |
